I was driving back home from Scotland yesterday so I didn't see the news until about 5 o'clock. Really happy about that because if I'd've found out he'd been sacked at 11, I'd have been driving like a lunatic all the way home and would've picked up a dozen speeding tickets, fueled by the sheer giddy joie de vivre of it all.
Can't express how relieved I am that it is all over. Going into next season with him would have been incredibly depressing.
I know we've all been frustrated by FSG and their apparent refusal to recognise the problem, turns out they do at least partly know what they're doing after all. Maybe they were giving Slot the best opportunity to prove he could turn it round. Maybe they were giving him enough rope to hang himself. Maybe they were waiting for the replacement they wanted. Maybe they were waiting for a break-point in his contract to minimise pay-offs. Who knows. For whatever reason, they've (finally) done the right thing, even if it is six months late.
So long Arne, thanks for no.20. Top marks for the handling of the Diogo tragedy. Now use this time-off to learn and self-develop. And maybe wear a toupee for a while. Try out a few styles.
