Match Topic Liverpool vs Manchester United - Premier League, 5th January @ 4:30pm

Watched the highlights back, Jones and Trent were our two worst players out there today. Van Dijk, McAllister and Gakpo had good games and Man of the Match was McAllister. -
Come on FSG get these contracts sorted, the uncertainty since we gone past the new Year's is not helping the squad at the moment. If Trent wants to go, let him go now for a fee. For the title run in I want players who will give everything for the shirt and not play half heartily because they don't want to increase their chances of getting injured before a big move.
-
That away schedule looks daunting but if we are genuine title contenders we should be negotiating those fixtures competently.
-
So all in all after this round of fixtures nothing's changed at the top with another game checked off. Could've been better but it could've been worse and we still have a game in hand. What really worries me after seeing Trent today, is this whole contract situation could derail our season. Mo and Virgil are still not sorted out either.
-
Forest away could define our season, it's a huge game now, team in form, in front of their home fans.
-
Robbo has been fantastic for us but it looks like age is starting to catch up with him. He's making individual mistakes that he wasn't making in the past. The premier league is extremely competitive, any drop in form or level and you'll be punished severely. He needs to be rotated.
-
He's a square peg in a round hole. Doesn't suit the system and our style of play. If the pivot of the attack was focused on him like it was at Benfica I'm sure he would thrive but he hasn't adapted his game in the time he has been here. Jurgen couldn't change him and now Slot hasn't, think it's best for all parties if we move him on.

Lacks in game intelligence.

Aye, it's annoying we didn't capitalize but based upon that ninety minutes I'm relieved we've come away with a point. -

Exactly, in this league you've got to earn the right to play. That means working just as hard as the opposition and only then will the difference in quality will count. That wasn't good enough from Trent, he was holding back and not giving 100%. Hurts even more considering he's a Scouser against our biggest rivals. -

Worst performance of the season? When you have so many players playing below par it's hard to win a game in the premier league. Started too slow and that set the tone for the performance. -

Defending needs to improve, we're conceding too many goals recently. Full backs are a major concern. -

Take the point, not a good performance by any stretch of the imagination. Mancs raised their game against us and got what they came for. Disappointed not to extend the lead at the top but as you were. -

Aye, has been for several decades now, league table is irrelevant in games like this. Just like the derby against Everton. -

They've got a point to prove, for their manager and the public at large. Couldn't think of a better game to raise themselves. -

Mancs playing the low block well, need some creative inspiration or a goal out of nowhere. -

If arsenal spent more time playing football and less time wasting they would've won the game. -

Opposition managers need to start calling out the referee before the games against Arsenal to talk about the blatant time wasting. -

Free kicks, corner kicks, goal kicks, keeper has ball in their hand, Arsenal take forever to take them. Referees need to do better in counter acting the time wasting. -

Arsenal are a good team but their blatant time wasting and faking injuries just makes them a dislikable bunch. -
Accurately sums up FSG time at the club. Not to pile on but after the end of this season, Konate, Robertson and Kelleher will all have one year left on their contract.

So here we are, January 1st and three of our best players can now sign a pre contract with another club from abroad. In our history we've seen good/great players leave and we've managed fine. Keegan, Souness, Rush, McManaman, Owen, Alonso, Suarez for example. But I don't think we will be fine if three of our best players all go at the same time. FSG pulled a blinder by hiring Slot but they've f***ed up big time in allowing this situation to develop. These contracts should've been sorted two years ago, to establish their intentions going forward and protect the club by selling them for a hefty fee if no agreement could be made. In my opinion, order of priority for contract signing is as follows: 1) Van Dijk : A Rolls Royce of a player, a leader, solid at the back, this guy makes our entire defence tick. Our defence isn't as good with him not in it. 2) Salah : Our best forward, most assists and goals, his consistency is incredible. He leads by example, has successfully adapted his game to make himself even better. But Salah leaving I think doesn't affect our attack as much as Virgil does with the defence. 3) Trent : Fantastic footballer, has great vision, his passing is one of the best in the game, a Scouser, some of his best years are still ahead of him and I think that is why for most Liverpool fans this one would hurt the most if he is not here next season. I don't know who is ultimately responsible for contract negotiations with the players at the club (Hughes?) but it's getting to a stage here where we need some intervention on these discussions. Henry needs to get involved, he's the head of the club, of course I have no evidence if he has or not. It's just this uncertainty around these three players is casting a dark cloud over our season despite flying high.

Wow, Ipswich with a much needed win. Brings Everton closer to the relegation zone. Surely that's Chelsea out of the title race. -
What are FSG playing at?
-
Bitters only won eight games in all competitions during the calendar year 2024. Must be soul destroying going to watch them week in week out under Dyche.
