Very true. "What do you mean do my methods translate? They have translated from Halmstad to Malmo to Orebo to Neuchatel Xamax to the Swiss national team. So I find the question insulting. To suggest that, because I have moved from one club to another, that the methods which have stood me in good stead for 35 years and made me one of the most respected coaches in Europe don’t suddenly work, is very hard to believe." "I don't understand questions about Liverpool and Fulham players being different types. At the moment arguably one or two of the players that are suggested as being very different to the Fulham players maybe aren't playing any better than the Fulham players played. So maybe people should be having a look at that." "Today was a famous victory (1-0 vs Bolton) because we hadn’t won more than once away in the whole of 2010. When you’re down the bottom, and keep being reminded you’re down the bottom, anxiety kicks in." "to be quite frank, he (Johnson) has not performed - very often at least - to the level I'd expect of him. You would have to ask him 'do you think you're playing at top form and are you playing like the best right-back in the country for your club?' If he says yes, obviously we will have to agree to differ and if he says no, then you'd have to ask the question 'why not?" "(the next day:) I didn't realise I had been accused of criticising him; I don't normally criticise my players and I'm sorry if that has been suggested." "having had a chat with Fernando, I think he'll enjoy it. It's not as if he'll be playing with a bunch of also-rans. I'm not asking him to play in the reserves."

Alright if you play higher up the pitch like Maxi, Benayoun and the like. Raul is a central midfielder. He will have to learn to get stuck in. I remember reading an interview with Hasselbaink where he said playing in Portugal prepared him for England, because of the absolute beatings you'd take in that league. Of course, back then you had man-beasts like Jorge Costa marking strikers which can't have been fun at all. I don't know, I don't really watch the portugese league.

If Kenny keeps up this vein of form, Shankly will be second in the list of quotable LFC managers before all this is over.
-
That's what happens when you tell your goalkeeper he plays too offensively
-
You can start forgetting now. Time to let it go and look forward. He's out of the picture.

I think trying to answer that question lies some way in the future. And it's not impossible that can be a yes when we're ready to try and answer it if he keeps improving. In the meantime I think he's good enough to be first choice for a side challenging for the top 4. I'd just like to see someone better than him in there alongside him.

The kind of player reviled by all on the pitch. The opposition hate to play aginst him and his teammates hate having to play with him.
-
Hopefully. I can't help think there is much more inside waiting to come out. I never watched him in Brazil as I don't watch south american football, but I just can't wrap my head around him being player of the year there. I don't mean that as a derogatory comment, but you don't win player of the year awards anywhere playing the type of game Lucas has predominantly done for us, no matter how well you're doing it. There has to be more in his locker he hasn't let out yet.
-
Love it. Few people can get away with bitchslapping the press and then getting a starstruck handshake as thanks. Kinda reminds me of Hyypia's last game for us when he was coming on and the lino walked over to shake his hand before entering the pitch. Proper fanboi moment.

can i get a 'f*** YEAH'? we needed this like nothing else. Great job. Kenny - making the fans happy.
-
I am not sure he does. He's more dynamic and adventurous, but that's about it from what I can see. The real question mark we have yet to see answered about him is how well he does in the big games where he gets very little time and space on the ball and will need to be on his game defensively. Lucas has shown many times he is not out of his depth in games like that, but we're still waiting on Raul.

I don't think they are being unreasonable in wanting 8m. And I don't think we'd be mugs for paying it either. somewhere around the 6m mark would probably be more fitting, but when you accept the silliness of the English tax and the fact they don't want him to leave right now, 8m is a fair price all around. Well, your evaluations aren't much to go by in this if you think Meireless is a better player than Lucas. I'd be happy with it. We we'd have three midfielders who aren't crap to choose from without having to field Gerrard there. I still think we need someone a lot better, but it can wait till the summer and we could do just as well with four midfielders who aren't crap to choose from without having to field Gerrard there. Especially if one of them is really really good.

Holloway wants 46m.

I am really not understanding this 'scorched earth' perception of Mourinho. What exactly is it he is supposed to be doing that so undermines the efforts of his successors? The only thing I can see that fits the bill is him being highly successful and really good at his job and then leaving the club in the hands of someone not quite as good. Scorched earth indeed. If Rafa couldn't get the dressing room behind him, he is the one with a problem. Not Mourinho. I doubt he has been sending txts to his former players about what a bad man Rafa is. That Rafa hasn't excelled in man management at Inter would hardly be shocking news. I'm not sure how Mourinho could be blamed for this when all he did was being great at it. By the same token, we should be blaming Rafa being being so good at tactics. It in in fact not Hodgson's fault that he was so limited in this regard. But Rafa's, since he made the players used to following good ones instead of lame tactics. Hodgson would have been a greater success if only we had brought in someone like Glenn Roeder first, who is much worse. When Roy then comes in and look positively inspired with his tactics, the players will be much more inclined to follow them with a passion.

now we just need the results to change as well and we'll be grand. Really really need a win against the wolves.

18 years, five months and 13 days. OTOH, Gary Lineker spent his first three seasons at senior level score 1, 3 and 3 goals a season, two of those in the second division at that. Wasn't until he turned 22 he actually reached double figures and even then that was also in the second division. The seasons before that, he played more for Leicester's reserves than their first team. He was 24 before he actually got double figures in the first division and earned his first international cap. I don't think there's a set rule for when a player blossoms. Someone like Le Tallec for example, I think was a case of the wrong manager in the wrong setup at the wrong time for him. We brought him in too early (or too late, depending on how you look at it) and imo judged him inadequate too early as well.

Thankfully, that quote was fabricated.

How did this man even survive into his late 20s?
-
David Brent is real and he supports Liverpool. Amazing, needs to be spread far and wide

Two presidents. '97-00 under Sanz, then 00-05 & 09-present under Perez. Don't think Perez will ever have anyone else for sporting director, whatever the reasons.

That was the other day, this is now. I don't think it's entirely unreasonable to think that Commoli has been softly working on these beforehand and is moving ahead with full speed after having sat down with Kenny to reach common agreement on who they want. Seeing as Van Bommel himself has commented on our approach, I think it's same to say we've made one.
-
he's entitled to.
-
Agree with that. I thought he was coming back here in January and frankly would rather he did than Warnock. Think he could still have a future at the club.
