  1. I am not accepting aggro over my Redknapp comment when there are people in multiple threads claiming Le Tissier > Totti. There must be some ranking of madness here.
  2. My point was that I am sure we could do the same to good effect with Torres, He has the ability to work the wings (and does sometimes). It's just that such a dynamic is not as good as having a presence like Torres in and around the penalty area.
  3. You are remembering that very poorly. Houllier's final season was the one where he decided he was gonna live up to his billing of being the total midfielder we thought he was gonna be. Put in a plethora of performances where he was more or less heading in his own crosses that season. Was also the first were the fans had the nerve to claim he really was the best midfielder in the world with conviction. No one thought he was going to leave that season. It was like the pinnacle of Gerrard adoration for him that year. Which rapidly turned to turmoil once euro2004 started.
  4. I am sure we could. He's not bad in the buildup, can easily beat a man and has plenty of pace. It just doesn't make much sense to move him from the centre where he is such a physical handful, a threat on crosses and can dribble through the middle.
  5. I thought I was in a Torres thread when I read this. Gave me a bit of a spook there mate.
  6. Seems it hasn't. Why would this make you happy though?
  7. was he this bad last year though? He seems to be visibly regressing.
  8. It would be brilliant. Far better than signing Heinze.
  9. How on earth will skretl cope against Stoke? Could be in for a mare.
  10. Think people forget what a talent he was before his injuries. He was set to be a starter in the 98 world cup ahead of Scholes, except he missed it due to injury. At one point there was a crazy long run of 'games undefeated' whenever redknapp was in the side. Showed once Houllier came in that he could score goals too.
  11. I said 'could have been'.
  12. I am very much not an expert but from what I understand, since the sale would not have happened in the course of the monitoring period (which starts in the summer) it would not count among our revenue. Basically we have a 50m euro room for FSG to invest beyond our revenue from '11 to '14 and any income from Torres now that we don't spend now and is not used to offset losses would be included in this. I think it's essentially the same problem for all clubs with 'money in the bank'? (which also stops clubs like city and chelsea from simply filling their coffers before the regulations come into play)?
  13. it start this summer, but it's being gradually implemented.
  14. oh.... carry on then.
  15. I was thinking that might happen if he moved. If he stays I fully expect him to play. The man loves scoring against them and a performance at stamford bridge would be an excellent way to cast off some of the sheepishness he has acquired with the s***ness of it all. Reckon he would have a point to prove in a game like that. Don't see how he could be anything but deeply embarrassed if he actually played in blue against us a week after f***ing us over though. edit: edinjapan just proved my point.
  16. I was impressed when he, a fundamentally creative player, bagged 38 in Guardiola's first season. I thought 47 last year was unreal. Really don't know what to say this year. The most impressive thing is without the goals he'd probably still be the best player in the world. He is that good. I guess the big question is who of Ronaldo and him will be the first to hit 50 this season. Messi leading with 5, both played 32 games.
  17. Clever mockers, but I fear Dirk is here to stay.
  18. So you've forgiven him. I think it's really only A@A who hasn't.
  19. those who haven't forgiven Gerrard are so much a minority as to be irrelevant. He's probably the most popular player at the club alongside Torres.
  20. He'll be forced to stay till the summer and then offered the choice of signing a new contract or fecking off.
  21. There is not going to be a huge wad of cash thrown at us from FSG. The fair play rules will see to that. Yup. oddly enough, getting the money in the bank now will work against us in the summer. If we sell now and don't spend it now, we can't really spend it in the summer either without it running against the 30m cap from the fair play rules.
  22. indeed.
  23. Had to go double check this on the beeb. Is he high?
  24. ...... Take the FA to court anyway. And then quietly settle this nonsense in the summer with the PL.
