Kenny for prime minister once he finishes here. How is it possible to spill out epic lines every time you do an interview? Yup. And I love the way he's managed to make clear that here is 'WE' - we have our way of doing things and it works and all our supporters are with us. and over there are you, everyone not a red but especially the media. He's creating a siege mentality and being a perfect gentleman about it. 'They' can do nothing but respect and acknowledge it. Roy couldn't stand the thought of not being part of the other crowd in with the media.
  2. Aguero, despite being clearly Argentine, reminds me of Romario. Suarez = The new Romario?
  3. 16 years and 250 days. Last May actually. How is he doing now?
  4. Evans style.
  5. It would have been great, for him and us both, for him to have had the chance to show if he could be that player for us in the final part of this season. I'm not convinced he's more talented than Aquilani though and if juve want to start haggling, I think we should just keep him and make good on our investment ourselves. Feel a bit sorry for Adam - he looks like he could make the step up, but it's hard to tell how much of this is a sublime run of form and confidence being in a settled side with the right manager and how much of it is enduring class that he will be able to build on in a new team surrounded by better players. This final part of the season would have been the ideal stage for him to be tested. Can't help but think that we might be (and perhaps should be) looking to more obviously talented players in the summer before turning to the likes of Adam again.
  6. I don't know where the hell that came from.
  7. They are both pussies. Ironically, Aquilani has been talking about how he has been given much more defensive responsibilities since joining Inter and how he is enjoying that. I like Meireless but I want a player in there besides Gerrard whom you feel can put out an absolute top drawer pass when needed to change a game. We need players who have that extra bit of quality to supplement our '8/10 in all departments' players like Lucas, Raul and Maxi (and to a lesser extent, Kuyt).
  8. I tell you what. We beat them and I will start looking at how we look for 4th place after each round.

I don't disagree. But he needs to back it up with results too. Off to a very fine start but we still have to wait and see how the rest of the season pans out. On another note, if there is one thing I am delighted with, it's his team selection. They are horrible, I scratch my head every time and today I actually stared open-mouthed and flabbergasted at the lineup. And he makes it work. It's brilliant.
  10. I like Comoli. He seems humble and eager to work well with the people around him.
  11. I'd have him back without question. We need a proper playmaker in there and Lucas and Meireless, though they do well with their passing, fall just short of that.
  12. There is one debut I wouldn't mind to see wait a week or so.
  13. I think I saw Alun Honson talk about him the other day.
  14. Unlucky lad. Played in two CL finals, lost both. Joined recent italian champions Lazio only for them to turn a bit s*** and Valencia goes and wins two titles for the first time in 50 years as soon as he leaves his boyhood club.

steady now.... We've won 2 games so far. Still lost just as much under him. One swallow doesn't make a summer.
  16. I am presuming the white lines are for runs and the yellow one for passing tendency?
  17. Apparently Richard keys phoned up Kenny Daglish last night regarding the Andy Carroll purchase. "You know that British transfer record....did you smash it?"
  18. I am not that arsed, but it's nice to see him so happy to be here. Bodes well for his motivation on the pitch, although Cisse was overjoyed to join us too.
  19. I think he'll hit the ground running. Carroll is still developing, but he is imo still very raw around the edges. Plenty to work on with his positioning, buildup and decisionmaking. And to be fair, hasn't played much in a good side. Suarez looks like he has plenty game intelligence, he has played at the world cup with and against great players. Despite having less prem experience, he probably has a better idea of what he is getting into and what is expected of him.
  20. offal quotes Good attitude.
  21. and this is why he will be missed. gutted he didn't make it here.
  22. I thought this video was pretty funny: Been done a thousand times but this one is better than many.
  23. Now that all the transfer madness is over, we've lost Torres, we paid 35 million for Carroll, Signed Suarez been trhough the roller coaster and the overriding impression I'm left with: I actually really miss Ryan Babel.
  24. me too. Carroll I think will be a nice battering ram to start with, but I can see him taking some time to really get into gear and I am not expecting him to dominate the goalscoring charts soon. Think the adjustment period will be more difficult for him. Suarez I reckon will be well up for this and I can see him being terrific from day one.
