We weren't good but on the balance of chances we win that game 4 out of 5 times. I don't think it was freak coincidence that they scored a second though, even if it was undeserved. And that's somewhat damning.

“We’ve seen Sesko play the last three, four five or six times, but they go to Liverpool they change the line-up. That’s not the first where we’ve faced a team and they’ve done that.” I am ok with bad excuses, Klopp used to blame the wind, but I find it worrying that this even enters his headspace. wtf.

Let the record state I thought he'd be better than Isak before either had kicked a ball for us.

This is the defining story of the game really. There can be games where the opposition can get an early goal and you have to just keep grinding out chances until it goes in the net. We were sort of doing that. Not ideal but it happens. Letting them score after the equalizer is all sorts of wrong. The ball should have been camped up their end of the pitch when that happened and it wasn't. -
Ekitike plays with personality. Kerkez does the opposite. Has all the on field presence and assertiveness of Igor Biscan so far.
-
We looked like a unit against Atletico. That's it. If there is a Klopp effect that has worn off, it is that when we play with intensity, we're only able to execute one phase of possession or out of possession. We're porous as hell whenever we go forward and when we focus on having proper structure out of possession we have no idea how to move the ball up the pitch. Secondly, we aren't very good at knowing when to play with intensity. The dial back from heavy metal slot executed last season has caused the whole clockwork to come undone at this point. Be nice to control a game the way we want to for a start this season.
-
I think he simply wanted a midfielder who can play rightback in the rightback position at that point in the game. I'm ok with that really, especially given what szobo has shown in that position already.
-
If we really aren't planning on playing him and Isak together, then buying Isak instead of a top notch left winger has to be said to have been a genuinely stupid decision. They are both too good to be rotating. I was on board because I thought there was a good plan behind it. Not playing them together isn't that.

Needs to start. If Isak wants the centre spot he should be be earning it.
-
He had four really good situations where he was unlucky. I don't know what else he did. Strange game for him.

Meh. It was claimed Haaland was a better goalscorer. I don't think so. -

Watching Ronaldo play does. Watching Haaland doesn't. -

Haaland scores 0,88 goals per game at city. Ronaldo scored 0,96 goals per game at barcelona. And 0,72 in Serie A in his last the season before the injuries came in. -

They haven't won 2 in a row under Amorim. There is no way we're losing 4 in a row. The footballing gods are firmly committed to finding new and ironic ways of punishing the mancs for their hubris. Their lot have been crying into their keyboards since early september about how no one in the media is willing to speak the truth about how awful Wirtz is and will always be and if that had been Pogba, etc. For that reason, I conclude that the most likely scenario is that we struggle to break them down in the first half, maybe even go a goal down, then Wirtz comes on and absolutely destroys them in the second half and all the post-match analysis will be about how a world star has well and truly arrived in the prem. The only other talking point being Amorim's post match comments where he declares that he hopes to lose more games like this in the future, because of the character they showed until the third goal went in. -
He did stuff like this. To the mancs.

I didn't really see Kenny play, but Suarez for me transcended conventional role and position. Coming deep to link play, running the channels, getting in behind, dribbling all over the pitch, creating chances for team mates, solo goals, long range strikes, fox in the box goals. He just did all the things attackers do. Like 3 players in one.
-
My bet is, after we beat them soundly, something like "maybe we need to lose more games like this, too take the pressure off trying to win so much." Then the next week "relegation could be the cultural reset this club needs to be successful ".
-
Just play Ekitike, Isak, Salah and Wirtz together the same way we used to play Suarez, Sturridge, Sterling and Coutinho together.

Joey Barton takes a swing at Gary Neville. Start at 0:36 in order to skip irrelevant Barton twaddle. -
stumbled on this on reddit Basically the liverpool lads keeping them afloat this season.

And what happens when he aces it there as well and turns out better than the alternatives? How many positions would you have us dreaming of szoboszlai in, Maldini? A whole team?
-
I love how his response to signing his replacement is to basically show up as our most important player in three different positions. He's amazing.
-
I think he needs to look to Coutinho and ask himself what he did to make it in a red shirt despite being smaller. He had a combative spirit that Wirtz just hasn't shown so far.
-
I don't think he offered near what Henderson did for the fullback, playing from the 10 position and all. At any rate, we can have a discussion about what TAA could ask for in terms of protection from midfield, given how much creative responsibility he also carried for the midfield. Asking questions about why Szoboszlai, easily the superior footballer, isn't carrying more water for our strong, fast and athletic right back is just a completely lopsided premise. Szoboszlai doesn't need that protection when he is having a light day out at right back. Robertson never did in his prime. Kerkez isn't being offered that kind of excuse either. I'm OK with talking about midfield carrying water for a fullback doing great stuff further forward. That's not Bradley though. He just needs to get with it.
