  1. There is another calculation whether 30m for Guehi now is a better deal than alternatives in the summer.
  2. Mignolet and the corner. We actually had a back line with Mignolet, Lovren and Moreno as first team regulars. We were so desperate we thought bogdan might be better than Mignolet. What a horrible time that was to be alive.
  3. He scored a goal. He's allowed to give them one back.
  4. Never seen it but I would think so. In transition at least, Mane's job was to carry it from deep. Salah's job to be the outlet as high up as possible.
  5. Salah generally assisted a lot more than Mane. But then I always found it strange Mane did not get more assists considering how much work he put into the buildup.
  6. That is indeed nuts.
  7. I remember a long time ago one of our physios were talking about Daniel Agger coming back from yet another layoff and how the biggest risk to the recovery process is the absence of regular games and hoping to get a run in without niggling injuries or breaks. Playing games regularly hardens the body. I guess that means being injury prone kind of becomes a self fulfilling prophecy.
  8. Don't think he's been anywhere near as finished as some have pronounced. He does need a team to get him the ball in the right areas, maybe even forwards who can finish the chances he creates, to excel though. It's not unreasonable really.
  9. I think it's petty to say that Rodgers only did well because he had good players and stopped doing well when he didn't. I think it's generally accepted you need good players to win big trophies. That 13/14 side had a strong managerial imprint. We played with loads of urgency and attacking optimism from the first whistle, were strong at set pieces, our midfield knew what to do and our attacking players thrived together. That was all Rodgers credit. All the same, he also set out to win a game he only needed to draw against a manager who was always going to park the bus and wait for us to make a mistake. Everything after that season was a disaster. Both from him and in recruitment.
  10. I just don't know what I'd do if we won it. Awful scenario.
  11. Was dying to pass the ball when he was in on goal. Overall was a good outlet though. Easy for him to make the space to do something decent.
  12. That was somewhat encouraging. Like, we had a plan and actually implemented it, and the downsides were more down to imperfect execution and confidence than the lack of plan.
  13. I think we'll lose 3-0. This is not an age of wonders.
  14. I'd play szoboszlai up front honestly. Best chance of a big performance from the front line that way.
  15. Big call starting Mac Allister over Jones for a game like this.
  16. He's not a villa player though is he? He's under contract with us and when the loan expires he'll be back here. I dislike this dgaf mentality. It's a massive clash with the culture instilled for a decade under Klopp. It's very Chelsea really.
  17. I think if we had known from the get go that he had a similar approach to Conte and Mourinho when it comes to development and potential vs. Actual performance, it'd be different. It's harder to accept, and a somewhat strange process of coming to said recognition, 18 months into things.
  18. It actually is. We're the PL the team he has the best record against. Us and Fulham are also the only team he hasn't lost to outside of the newly promoted ones and the ones that got relegated last season. There's a case for vibes managers and interim managers is just that. The dream is forever him to win that contract.
  19. Isak?
  20. It's hard to overstate just how bad he was. This is a guy who came in, acknowledged he doesn't have the players for 343 and insisted that is the only system they will play because it's only system he knows. And when he took a team doing poorly to new depths of historically bad, he insisted that results will have no bearing on his approach. A manager completely resistant to the reality of his situation. Not only did he not have the players for it, he also went out of his way to make the team worse. Moved their best player out from the 10 position (a position they struggled to accommodate before but now had trouble slots for) into central midfield where his sloppiness in possession and lack of tracking back could achieve its fullest expression at the expense of blunting his attacking output. A manager who basically dared the higher management to sack him on a weekly basis with the higher management in turn regularly insisting he's safe for years to come in the weirdest game of chicken ever. He finished 15th. 15th! And then lost the europa league final to 16th place. And spurs were absolutely awful. It was probably the s***tiest European final ever. He'll be missed. Really hard to see the next manager filling those shoes. Omg. This is really happening. Amazing.
  21. Devastated. He was the culmination of their self-sabotage. Ole at the wheel would be hilarious. I do reckon his vibes approach could galvanize them for a couple of months. With luck, enough for him to score another contract and for them to go full circle of f***wittery.
  22. Indykaila on January 1st
  23. He had completed a medical and taken press photos with us in August. I don't understand how we go from that to "we're still interested in this player city is now pursuing". He should have joined January 1st.
  24. Based on this season it's clearly patient possession football. The kind where you don't have to work harder than the opposition to win. It's like a worse version of van-gaal-at-united-ball.
  25. "I should like to drink half a dozen bottles of wine tonight. And suffer no hangover tomorrow at that. Oh how sweet it would be. Alas, I fear a hangover will be inevitable with such generous libation. But if I am to suffer the hangover of half a dozen bottles, shall it ruin the purity of the pleasure of drinking the bottles in the first place? Why would Dionysus grant us such pleasures, only to taint them with punishment after our worship of his creation is completed? At any rate, I don't have half a dozen bottles worth drinking so the point is moot." "Sir, this is a Wendy's."
