  1. He played there a few times for us iirc.
  2. To prevent teams from trying to rig results.
  3. We've played like that (Ie a proper performance of a top team) three times this season. All in Europe.
  4. Alonso took over Leverkusen in the relegation zone. The next season he was one Europa league final away from being undefeated in all competitions. Won the league undefeated with 90 points, a tally only bettered once, by Guardiola's Bayern. Slot winning the Dutch league once doesn't begin to compare to that. It was a historic season.
  5. Rodgers Liverpool also handily beat Klopp's Dortmund.
  6. I am trying to go by your metric here, which is comparing Slot's achievements after joining Liverpool to Alonso’s and pointing out that Alonso’s achievements are quite similar to what Klopp's were before he joined Liverpool. Both Alonso and Klopp's resumés are better than Slot's was before he joined Liverpool though.
  7. Klopp had also achieved far less than slot when he joined us. 12 months ago Slot had achieved far less than either of Xabi and Klopp-before-liverpool.
  8. I want to believe
  9. I am ready to to Jacquet in if we don't sign him.
  10. At this point I am just checking this thread waiting for something to happen. Is there anyone left still willing to go to the matresses for him? Bailo?
  11. At this point, Gerrard coming in temporarily to stink out the place is little different from Slot stinking out the place. But it does have the perk of shutting the door on him in the future. I actually think he'd do alright for a few months, just on vibes.
  12. I think what Alonso did with Leverkusen is the kind of thing you can't accomplish if you aren't bringing everything together into a cohesive whole. We don't know if it translates (it didn't to Real Madrids solipsistic ecosystem), but I maintain now as I did then that he looks the most likely candidate to be the next new biggest thing.
  13. Most yes. Salah is getting old though. But we know how much he can deliver if you set him up.
  14. Oof. I am not prepared to agree on Salah. He's limited by his age in that he needs good stuff around him to do his stuff, but I think that's what we're seeing rather than him going from having one of the best seasons anyone has had in this league to half the player he was in twelve months. But this could be said for almost all our players. It falls on the quality of training and tactics.
  15. Stealing Klopp's best excuses would be the last straw for me. Intolerable.
  16. Ekitike for Gakpo and that would be a fun lineup
  17. I don't think this has anything to do with the smartest people in the room or Slot not rating him enough vs Kerkez etc. He's 32 years old and not fit enough to play every week, a club legend who has asked to be allowed to leave so be can play as much he would like. And we've let him. It's actually the kind of humanist move I thought the club incapable of in the post Klopp era. With the said, I'm sure if the algorithm disapproved, it would have been disallowed.
  18. I know it might sound petty but I really don't think it is - but it was easy to guess in advance we'd win this one at a canter because it's a European little league team not playing a low block. It doesn't really say much of anything at all about where we're at. Sure, some credit but "a lot of credit" is over egging it. We should always be winning such games.
  19. 1.8m is not shortarsed
  20. Isn't that incorrect though? I thought it was from when the ball leaves the foot.
  21. Giraffes can run 60 km/h. Do not the giraffe.
  22. Plenty of fish in the sea of prospects that will most definitely improve our team for a reasonable price and are preferably English. Just like with Zubimendi.
  23. I am giving him a 3 to 4 and remembering the blankie I am inclined to round down. Before this season I would have said Lovren had the biggest gap between top and bottom level of any of our defenders I'd seen. But he was only ever good when defending smaller spaces with short distances to his team mates. As the space to defend in behind grew and the distance to supporting team mates grew, he became exponentially upon exponentially worse. The number of absolutely shocking performances was huge and loads were forgiving of it because he had good games once upon a time but didn't realise why he had those games. So yes he had some good games but he was the literal antithesis of what we were trying to become. Would have been good for Houllier though. Probably better than Henchoz in that setup.
  24. In what world was Lovren average to decent?!? That really rustled my jimmies.
