Villa (N) - Sunday 3.00 - FA Cup Semi Final
NeilR replied to Sir Tokyo Sexwale 's topic in Liverpool FC
I've is cup tied is he not? -
And got away with a similar stamp on Martin that he is being sanctione for.
-
He didnt mention the FA, it was another poster on his post. as someone has already said...sounds like he knows the result of his appeal
-
I didnt say it was the correct method, but it seems to be the way FSG do their business and they have done OK so far...not perfect. Of course Id prefer we splashed the cash and brought in mega stars, but its not the FSG way and is more financially sound without an oil baron behind us. You could easily did what Utd did and splurge a lot of cash on a world class forward in Falcao, and it still not work out. There are no garauntees.

Afte the loss on Sunday and moping about for 48 hours, I had thought that the possibility of us missing out on a champions league place (no I havent givent up) would impact us in the market. But the more I reflect on it and think of the types of players we are likely to target (for example we are linked to the likes of Vietto and Berahino for the strikers spot), I dont think it'll impact us too much as FSG's strategy doesnt necessarily align itself with players needed CL football. It will in the odd occassion where we target a marquee signing (again for example we are linked to Pranjic) but not for the majority. Trying to be positive this morning as its a long wait until our next game.

Their incidents are being totally overlooked because Utd won. I actually thought there could have been 2 from each side sent off. Jones tackle was high late and deliberate. Very dangerous! Yellow was laughable. Rooney clearly has a kicking motion and takes out Mignolets ankle. It could have been understandable if the ball was on the deck and he was trying to kick it but mignolet actually was catching the ball in the air at head height when it happened. But we'll see that we'll have 2 suspensions and they can skip on!!! Said it before several times this season (and not just during our matches) and I'll say it again, Martin Atkinson is by far the worst ref in the league and how he keeps getting big games after so many wrong decisions I dont know. There have been a lot of teams victims of his ineptitude this season, not just us, but it doesnt excuse it! Dont know if we can compare Skertl's challenge to the one costa did on him earlier in the season as evidence that it couldnt be proved as deliberate, as the FA chose not to sanction Costa for that but just the Can one.

I have to say I thought the way we setup last season was the best that brendan could do. By that I thought he was an all out attacking philosophy but all evidence pointed towards him not knoing how to shore up a defence and keep clean sheets. I.e. you score 2 we'll score 5. Early in the season i questio ed his game management too. But I stand corrected as he has found this 3 at the back system which seems to work for who we have in the team. Today's subs were very astute too and made to shut up shop and address what was happening in real time on the pitch. My apologies!

What's the latest stats here
-
Which is off the bench or fewer starting minutes. Stevie won't agree to that though. Arguably the best Liverpool player ever (definately up there), but you get the feeling this year with his form and contract ending, coupled with the fact he wont settle for reduced playing time, it may be his last here unfortunately.
-
I'd agree with all those and add De Boer to that list as well. I only think Simeone and Lowe are the only ones we couldnt get at this time. Rodgers is losing the plot (and the credibility he built up last year) with how he has handled things since the end of last season. I dont believe he could have stopped Saurez leaving, but not directly replacing him at all was criminal. He has no in game management skills it seems. Cant close a game out. Continually shows he hasnt a scooby about how to tighten up a defence since the day he got here. Cant see the glaringly obvious that Gerrard is not a defensive midfielder and he cannot play in a midfield two with Lucas when all us supporters can. Its all baffling. I actually like the guy (you wouldnt know due to the last paragraph) and was hoping seeing he was a fellow N.Irelander he'd be a success. But its becoming very hard to defend him or believe with the evidence he is showing that he can turn this around. He'll be given to the end of the season but I think that will be it. Gutted!
-
But if it's a transfer committee then surely one of the benefits is you an take the manager out but the players are signed by the rest of the committee with the bigger picture in mind.
-
Before I start I'm not one who thinks he should go now. He deserves the season to try to rectify things. But can I ask why you are sure he will get it right as although I like the bloke I not as sure he has ever shown any evidence he can shore up a defence while still posing an attacking threat. In fact he's shown no evidence he knows how to shore up a defence period and unfortunately you do need a stable defence to challenge consistently at the top.
-
If this is true, then Rodgers will be on his way out at the end of the season. Number 1, it shows that FSG dont trust him with more money (even sell to buy as Brendan says he looking to bring anyone in). Two, With the current squad of players I dont think Brendan can shore us up to stop conceding goals. He hasnt shown any evidence since the day he has come here that he can shore up a defence (maybe part of his philosophy and how he prioritises his play) , and just adding Sturridge to this current side isn't going to dramatically turn our fortunes around as a lack of a striker is far from the only problem we have.
-
I'd allow him to sell to buy. If he can ship a couple to sign a striker I'd sanction it. We need it. But his future will ultimately depend on his ability to turn things round with largely what he has and he can't argue that he hasn't been backed.
-
to be honest I think Rogers and his team of backroom staff know how to attack (once we have the correct players in place and fit), but I have no belief or have seen any evidence in their time with us that they know how to shore up a defence, even if we fork out the cash (which we arguably have when you look at what we have spent). I think the best scenario we can have under the current management team is what we had last year (you score 4, we'll score 6). I don't mind that as I really enjoyed how we played last year (ignoring the final heartbreak t the death) but it relies on us discovering another world star striker to play with a fit Sturridge. I don't see us shoring up our defensive system and winning with scoring fewer goals overall like I think we envisaged when suarez left.
-
If Lambert can't get a run of games from now and I don't mean 1 in 1 out (especially with Sturridge still missing for another few weeks), I don't know what Rogers is doing. I've tried to defend Ballotelli, but as the weeks have gone on its hard to see what he brings to the side. Its hard to even describe what type of forward he is. He has had ample opportunites and I think the least we can do is give Ricky a similar chance. Can't do any worse and with Lallana back fit (where he was missing in the early games lambert played), maybe their understanding from Southampton could help.
-
He might not have been initially, but when Sakho was told he was sub to Lovren and Skertl, he left the ground. So Kolo was then promoted onto the subs list. My take anyway.
-
Where did all thinks to Jackson Martinez go (not only to us but a move in general)? Would suit us I think but there seems nothing credible links a move from us in a long time unfortunately. If we finished the summer dealings with Moreno and then Martinez it'll have been an extremely good window!
-
http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-clinch-transfers-loic-remy-3902573 Would be a dream summer if we could pull all of these deals mentioned in the article off.
-
If we got those first 3, I wouldnt think we'd need Bony, and would spend the surplus on the likes or Aurier. Better still, buy Lovren, Griezmann and Rodriguez with the cash.
-
At this point id take that. There is no denying Luis has devalued himself a bit. Sanchez & that cash represents good value as he's as close to Suarez as we could hope for plus gives us money to buy say Moreno, lovern and maybe origi for example. We cannot replace suarez's goals and assists directly with one person. But the other view could be we could shore up defence so we don't need to score quite as much. Plus as Luis would miss a quarter of the season he not going to score or assist as much so maybe having Sanchez available from day one actually balances things out. Gutted the idiot did this again though!
-
Agree. Needed even more now. Prefer we'd get just him than both lallana and shaquiri

In business you dont sell your shares for example when they hit a low value. You hold on and try to get the value back to what is a more truthful worth and then you sell if you like. I think we'll take the same stance with Suarez. He'll get an international ban which wont effect us (in fact it'll help as he'll play less games and not have to travel half way around the world several times a season). He'll get stick from opposition fans and the media...so what he already gets that. We bought him while suspended for biting, we stuck with him through the Evra incident, we stuck with him through the Ivanovic biting (in fact gave him a new improved contract), and I think we'll not sell at this point either (especially as I dont expect we'll get market value for him at this stage as he'll be seen as a risk). FSG are business men and wont react in a knee jerk fashion. I do expect they'll hope he toes the line like he did this season, and then next summer it could be time to move on. The fact that our opposition supporters all want him sold tells everything (and it has nothing to do with morals).

Uruguay had til 9 tonight (don't know if that is uk or Brazilian time) to appeal the charge. Anyone know if they have do e yet or at likely too?
-
Great result for us. He'll be well rested now (as a result of an international ban) for us before the new season (like our England lads and possibly lovern too). No one will want to take the risk of paying a bucket load to buy him either so we don't have to worry about barca or Madrid. Win win! I'm a glass half full person if you can't tell already!
