  1. If lovern comes he can easily play right cb or left. That's the beauty of the signing. Rotates with Skertl & sakho (if agger is sold).
  2. I'd prefer to spend that money on him than similar on lallana (and I like the lallana) as I think we need him more and would have a bigger improvement on our team. Throw in Lovren too and it would be an amazing summer. Dont think its likely unfortunately!
  3. So say totalling £80m. We'd probably be looking to raise £30m in sales to off-set that, so (unfortunately as I'd love to keep them) that would mean one of / or both Agger and Lucas would need to be sold to make a decent dent in that. You can add on Aspas, Assaidi, Kelly, Coates, Robinson, Toure, Reina, Coady as the others who could potentially go towards that (some not all).
  4. Picking up any 2 out of those 5 would be a very good bit of business.
  5. Its funny that the majority of players we are being linked to in the media are attacking players when its our defense that seems to need the most work. However, after thinking about this I believe Rogers has come up with a new tactic of targeting 200+ goals next season and the mentality if you score 5, we'll score 9! Starting line up could well look something like this... ------------------Mig------------------ ---------------Lovren---------------- ---------------Gerrard (rotated with hendo)--------------- Sterling--Coutinho--Lallana---Konoplayanka Remy--Sturridge--Suarez---Pedro I'm not going to even try to draw arrows showing how the payers will move and rotate in game, and where the runs will be. Exciting times ahead! ;-)
  6. Love this top... Anyone know when its available?
  7. Or just go Lallana and Greizmann. The more I see of Greizmann, the more I see an FSG type signing all over. Not the cheapest option, but not at one of the big clubs, is young, and if you watch the video its not hard to imagine exactly how he'll fit into our team... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PfYjO43zT6M
  8. Is Gary on a free? Could be a great piece of business. Right footed so could play instead of Skertl, but normally plays on the left of the 2 CBs for beneficial so could play with him. Scores a good amount. Part of a tight defensive unit. Can pass quite well for a big man. Regular Argentine international cb... Usually a good sign.
  9. There are some interesting free transfers available this summer that could help us to bulk our numbers up but with quality (not just squad fillers) and allow us to spend higher on the other positions. Yes, they'll involve big signing on fees or decent wages (but you would expect to have to pay a decent wage for a good player anyway), but still a lot cheaper than a full transfer fee. You would hope we could pull off another Pirlo effect. Quick look at some... A. Cole Sagna Valdes Reges Menez Alonso (cant remember if re signed an extension or not?) Matuidi Raul garcia Ochoa We can also look at players like Sturridge or Coutinho who aren't getting on for their clubs regularly as well who you could get a bit of value for money out of... Song M'Vila Isco Morata Coentrao Casillas Shaquiri Kovačić Pastore Moura
  10. Surely Marshall should be relatively cheap now Cardiff are down. Last few windows have been about rebuilding so we can have our new way of playing. I think now we need to go for strength in the starting positions, with those currently in position dropping down and becoming the squad strength. We've done extremely well this year but I agree with the train of thought we need 6 (possibly 7). GK - Someone to push Migs LB - Needed one last summer, and still need one. Cissokho wont be staying. RB - Glen's done. Flanno can cover. CB - One strong dominant RCB i'd go for as I'd like to have them and Skertl as 2 for that spot, and Sakho & Agger for the left side. Agger may go though unfortunately. Wisdom and Ilori can play understudy. Coates, Kelly & Toure can move on. LW - We were previously trying to get konoplayanka and would like to see this be re-visited. AM - Lallana would be a great shout for us here if recent stories are to be believed. Seems to fit our style. Striker: Backup to Suarez and Sturridge. Its not Aspas (he cant even get ahead of a poor Moses). Not sure if Borini really fits the bill and someone who could slot in seamlessly and make a big enough impact. Remy would have been perfect but he seems to be heading to Arsenal. Bony? Out: Coates, Kelly, Toure, Cissokho, Moses, Aspas, Assaidi, Reina Possibly out (wont lose much sleep over): Johnson, Borini, Alberto, Robinson, Coady Back into the Squad: Wisdom, Ilori, Ibe, Suso So, plenty to do and I'm not sure if we'll actually do that much business. I can see Rogers ignoring the GK, RB and Striker but going for good quality in the others.
  11. Heard rumours this morning that City had rejected UEFAs proposal to them (presumably the same one as to PSG). If its true then they must think they have a legally strong case, otherwise presumably UEFA could bring about stronger sanctions. For what its worth I think this whole FFP will collapse as there will be more holes in it from a European law point of view than Swiss cheese, and I dont think UEFA have the balls to go fully toe to toe with the big clubs. Bit of a kick in the teeth for clubs like us who have been working to function in line with it when others will just flaunt it and say "well what are you gonna do about it"!
  12. I've heard that stated so many times this season that we have been fortunate with injuries, but its completely incorrect. Added to Suarez missing the first 5 league games (which would have helped our GD) we have had injuries to Sturridge, Lucas Gerrard, Coutinho, Enrique, Johnson, Agger, Sakho, Cissokho and Allen. With the small squad we have, thats massive. So I dont know where this one comes from but its certainly being rolled out by the media.
  13. Whats gutting is he could pick up a league winners medal for Liverpool as opposed to Carra! Carra has contributed more than he has this season too!!!
  14. Thought that myself while watching the match but havent seen it since. Anyone got a gif?
  15. The ironic thing is you look at some of the tackles Hendo personally has had on him this season that haven't been reds (e.g. Etoo) which were malacious, where as his was just tired and on the stretch, it makes it a bit hard to take. I do agree though we don't have much grounds to appeal on.
  16. Think it suits us best if Chelsea have to play away on the Wednesday first, so their second game is Tuesday, our match gets moved to Saturday and then they have less time in between the first leg and ours to prepare and recover!
  17. Was there any part of that "story" that was actually true? It's just a made up rant.
  18. Anyone who has been watching him on loan this year think wisdom might be a serious option next year or does he still have development to go?
  19. Spot on. If only spurs would drop off a little (6-9 point gap), then I think everyone would feel more relaxed. As it is we are only 1 win (spurs beat us at anfield or a slip up on our part) from them being on level points. Yes we have the big teams at home to come mostly but we could still get 0 points from that. I think we'll get top 4, but if spurs can drop off the pace then pressure is off us and it would help the push for top spot. Love being in the mix for a change in recent years, & long might that continue!
  20. There are plenty of good attainable full back options on top of those. cole, Sagna, Montoya, Moreno, aogo, pereira (either) to name a few off the top of my head. Sure there are more
  21. Cheers. Nowhere near the ball at any point. Straight red no doubt (just like etoo, just like mirrallas). Potential leg breakers & yet the offenders are getting the benefit of the doubt???
  22. anyone any clips / gifs of Monreal's tackle on Allen or Podolski's first half tackle on Flanagan? I think if you look at those it'll stop the "oh but Gerrard didnt get a 2nd yellow" debate as levelling things up re the penalty. Webbs refereeing decisions went no where near being leveled up on Sunday.
  23. Fully agree. Ayres Seems to be doing a decent job on the commercial side, where his background is. But 5 quite public failures in 2 windows shows his inability to get jobs closed as a CEO. He should step aside & go back to commercial director& let a proper football director come in. What's david dean doing these days?
  24. There is only one solution and it is obvious. Buy a good defensive midfielder and stop trying to shoe horn players into the role who arent good at it. Even before Lucas's injury we arguably needed one anyway. I dont believe for a second that we'll play the likes of Sakho / Agger / Toure / Kelly etc in there, Gerrard should be paired with a specialist DM and not be that player, and I dont think we can get 4th spot unfortunately unless we do buy one (maybe if Lucas injury was only a couple of weeks but its long term). I'm not worried we lost out on Salah. I would have liked him signed but think its DM we are most in need of now. Have a dreaded feeling the window is going to close without us addressing this, and if we miss the great opportunity we have now of the 4th place due to not buying one when there are several good options possible, I dont think the fans will be happy with the club at all. There are a few days left though so hoping for a plesant surprise.
  25. Fully agree. Wouldn't be a bad window if we did. We can look at 2 new fullbacks in the summer, as Enrique and flanno are not far from a return now
