Actually, I would have thought we would have had the most possesion in the first half. After we went behind, we tried to take the game to them and they simply destroyed us on counter attacks.

Well, we destroyed them on a counter attack but were foiled by a handball the ref failed to spot. From there they scored the second goal. Prior to that we had looked the better team, despite their early goal.

When I first watched it back on dvd I felt the same. We didn't play that badly but their forward play had an extra edge which knocked the stuffin out of us as each goal went in.

we had a good chance after 3 mins - Hyypia header I think. Then Riise had a shot - even the commentator said it was a good response from us

Against top teams you need a holding midfielder, without an extra man infront of the defence it's to easy to play through you if you have forwards who can play against an offside trap, a mistake i don't believe Rafa will make again in a big game.

 

Cue Momo or Didi not playing in the cup final.
