Barnesy_10 Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 I think Cisse would be a better prospect for them than Ameobi.... though its Shearers last season but can't see them losing two top class striekrs and replacing one of them with Cisse. can't see it happening, but if it were then I reckon Cisse plus £8mill
magneto Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 We need more than just Owen..we need 2 pacey wingers who can cause havoc and run at players. I think you'll find that no matter who we bring in to replace Morientes/Cisse/Mellor/Pongolle that we still need variation down the flanks.
madaboutlfc Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Owen is injury prone and is not the answer. I hope the Owen chapter is closed forever unless you cannot refuse the deal..
Bootle Buck Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 It's fecking time to move on and build a new team with speed and cretivity. Going back to should we sign Owen every week suggests desperation. FFS he has been injured practically all season.
Kindred Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Surely the answer is £3m. 2 years ago we valued Cisse at £14m. 1 year ago they valued Owen at £17m. They'd get a pacy flambouant striker with attitude who if the whole team was built round him, would probably score 20 goals a season (miss a few as well!). We'd get one of the most composed strikers in front of goal around and would get us 20 goals a season, but spend half of it injured! Seems about fair to me

Paddy 66 Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 i dont want Owen back, i dont think he is the answer. i also donttghink Rafa will have him back. teh only person to blame for Owen being an Newcastle now is Owen, had he just signed teh contract put to him last summer we wouldnt be talking aboutthis. he wanted to leavem he left. thats it. we have moved on since Owen and Heskey have left, we are evolving into a better team, we are at a higher level. we need to keep going forward, not backwardsSpot on Wayne
Guest DjibriLFC Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Lets be honest here, Owen aint coming back to Liveropool, Cisse hasn't been given the chance with us as yet. But think he will be on his way in the summer, shame i thought he would have done the business. As for the other strikers, well they dont seem enough at the moment.
Guest RedLegend Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 I'd take Owen back in a heartbeat for the right price Feck I'd take Clive Owen at this stage.

Falconhoof Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 As much as i'd like Cisse to be sold and us to get a good deal...I can't imagine him going to Newcastle in a million years. My gut feeling is he'll go back to France Marseille, Lyon or PSG, possibly Spain though I doubt the scouts will be sending rave reviews back about his 1st touch.
Guest Anders Honoré Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 (edited) and where are you sitting? in front of a screen that has told me that Elisha mentioned a release clause that, by plain coincidence, matches what we offered last summer, and which has Rafa mentioning that Owen could yet play for liverpool again, just this week having gerrard talking about him coming back, a player desperate to sign for a team totally devoid of quality up front. He's also english which counts in his favour considering that he is available for a fair price (12£ mio), has plenty of experience, knows the club inside out, and crucially: he scores goals. That's a pretty rare commodity we'd be hardpressed to get for any lesser price. I find it hard to believe we should pass up on that because we were outbid by newcastle at a time when he was desperate to come home. Rafa is frankly far too pragmatic for that. Gunga Din Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Absolute utter sh*te he is injury prone though, he's always fecking injured.
Will Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 he is injury prone though, he's always fecking injured. He is not even remotely injury prone. that is utter drivel spouted by people who have no clue. Sorry.
Mike Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 He is not even remotely injury prone. that is utter drivel spouted by people who have no clue. Sorry. no - saying he is not even remotely injury prone is utter drivel willhe's not as injury prone as some people think but he has never gone through a season (this century)without at least one lengthy spell on the sidelines. he is the very definition of remotely injury prone.
Gunga Din Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 He is not even remotely injury prone. that is utter drivel spouted by people who have no clue. Sorry. he has played 10 games this season. why only 10? you guessed it bright spark, because he has been injured. this season he has managed to pick up a hamstring injury and a broken foot. when he was with us we never once got a full season out of him. no ,matter how good a player he is, he isnt going to score goals sitting in the stands Getting injured does not make you injury prone
Mike Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 Getting injured does not make you injury prone forum lore
Gunga Din Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 I refer you to my previous post and i refer you to mine
Mike Posted March 12, 2006 Posted March 12, 2006 No, simply a logical statement if you're out of your tiny mind on mushrooms maybe
