R A Softlad Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 They've missed out on signing Gavin Gunning (15 year old Centre Back). This on top of Walcott. Has the treatment of SWeeP been a lesson to younger players that maybe money isn't always god?

IgPig Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 I think any young player with half a brain (or who has an agent with half a brain) would be nuts to go there. And that's even if they support them.
liverbird04 Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 theres only one thing for it ,they must sell SWP to liverpool at a very reasonable price to regain back their stock .....
Michael Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 I think it is a direct consequence of their buying policy. No kid is ever going to get a chance with that club. In any other team, if a seasoned pro gets injured or moves on, the youngsters know that limited funds dictate they will at least be looked at as a potential replacement. If the same thing happens at Chelsea, Mourinho will simply go out and pay £25million for a replacement. They are only interested in big names for the first team.
Guest JV Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 Who did the centre back turn them down for?
Maldini Posted February 13, 2006 Posted February 13, 2006 (edited) They've missed out on signing Gavin Gunning (15 year old Centre Back). This on top of Walcott. Has the treatment of SWeeP been a lesson to younger players that maybe money isn't always god?We missed out on him too, apparently we really wanted him, he's meant to be very good, United were in for him as well. The team he's playing for at the moment is meant to have a load of class prospects, another of the lads in the team Conor Clifford is only 13 and has been first choice for the Ireland u17s, I read somewhere that we're one of numerous clubs very interested in him Edited February 13, 2006 by Maldini
Flight Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 WTF is this thread in the LFC forum. Just seeing it gives me tourettes.
Mono Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 (edited) Blackburn's academy seems to be a very attractive to Irish youngsters Edited February 14, 2006 by Mono
madaboutlfc Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Who's career has reached giddy heights by moving to us... well for someone from the championship to play for the European Champions is a success
Kvarme Ate My Food Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 WTF is this thread in the LFC forum. Just seeing it gives me tourettes. copralalia
Flight Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 copralalia I wonder if Howard has ever shouted 'Whisky nosed c***,' during a half time b******ing.
jimmylibel Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 Blackburn's academy seems to be a very attractive to Irish youngsters Maldini will know more about this but I think they still use Pat Devlin as their main Irish scout...
Bootle Buck Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 They've missed out on signing Gavin Gunning (15 year old Centre Back). This on top of Walcott. Has the treatment of SWeeP been a lesson to younger players that maybe money isn't always god? Unfortunately, they can go and sign the Ready-to-play versions for 30 million.
PaulLFC Posted February 14, 2006 Posted February 14, 2006 BridgeTiagoParkerSWPJohnson to get into chelsea's team being a young good player is not enough.
Maldini Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 Chelsea have signed that Clifford lad I was talking about
Scally Bob Posted February 25, 2006 Posted February 25, 2006 Chelsea have signed that Clifford lad I was talking about Max?
wacko Posted February 26, 2006 Posted February 26, 2006 I think when ManUSA bought Rooney, Mourinho said he wasn't interested in a player who wasn't developed; he wanted the finished article. As long as he doesn't have any limits in the transfer market, why would he buy a promising youngster when he can just as easily have the finished article?
