Guest Kev Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 Just got a sneaking feeling that Cardiff will stage this year's FA Cup Final due to Wembley running late. Anyone else ?
Falconhoof Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 It sounds like it. One of the blokes involved with the build said something about the Millenium eye being built after the Millenium but it was a marvellous success. When is something like that ever built on time ?
Jonesy Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 Cardiff.....will do for me. I am now expert but it doesn't look like Wembley will ever be ready. It sounds like it. One of the blokes involved with the build said something about the Millenium eye being built after the Millenium but it was a marvellous success. When is something like that ever built on time ? funny that......They managed to get Millenium Stadium in Cardiff built on time.

Come to think of it, they had the Millenium Falcon built well in time.
anny road Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 my mate is working on the bar areas and he heaid he would be surprisded if it is ready for the Charidee sheild... Cardiff is better anyway
Vlad JNR Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 They said its got to be ready for the end of March, for it to be handed over to the FA. Looking at the pictures on sky sports, and looking at the list of things they had to do i would say it will be Cardiff. They've all sorts of construction experts on BBC and Sky saying it was a 50/50 chance
Guest roger Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 Dunno if this has been posted Gloomy Guardian Piece The builders have to deliver or may go bust.
stressederic Posted January 30, 2006 Posted January 30, 2006 Bloody Wembley. It was supposed to start at the same time as the fecking International Space Station! How the hell is it easier to put something together in orbit, faster and more effieciently then to build a stadium on the surface?
Cobs Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 Bloody Wembley. It was supposed to start at the same time as the fecking International Space Station! How the hell is it easier to put something together in orbit, faster and more effieciently then to build a stadium on the surface?were they trying to put 90,000 people into space all at once? it will be the best stadium on the planet when it's finished. stop feckin whinging, the lot of yers
stressederic Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 were they trying to put 90,000 people into space all at once? it will be the best stadium on the planet when it's finished. stop feckin whinging, the lot of yers No, but they were trying to construct a building in space! Where you can only do so much work at a time before you need to have another shuttle launch (which were delayed following Columbia) to bring up the next bit, and the workforce changes every couple of months. You can't go outside very often and if you make a mistake everyone dies and the whole things f***ed. And they're still beating us!

Knox_Harrington Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 It is but you can't know it will be the best stadium in the world when it's finished. And that's clearly Anfield.
Cobs Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 It is but you can't know it will be the best stadium in the world when it's finished. And that's clearly Anfield.it was clearly an opinion - not a FACT.
Knox_Harrington Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 it was clearly an opinion - not a FACT.Fair enough, mebbe it was.

Cobs Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 Today, the cost of the ISS has risen to $100bn and counting. It sucks almost $2bn from Nasa's budget every year, essentially to stay mothballed in low Earth orbit. No one expects it to be finished before 2017 and, even then, it will be a mere shell of the plans on the drawing board. sufficient in itself to show you were talkng out of your a*** but as i already said - stupid feckin comparison
Sir Tokyo Sexwale Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 I'd be surprised if Wembly's ready for the FACF 2007
Cobs Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 I'd be surprised if Wembly's ready for the FACF 2007all doomed...
sutty Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 A mate at work's missus works for the tube and she says that the stadium might be built but the supporting infrastructure is unlikely to be and they won't be able to hold the necessary ramp up events required to get the licenses etc in time... This years final will defo be in Cardiff.
L19red Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 the international space station wins hands down http://www.googlefight.com/index.php?lang=...wembley+stadium
matty Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 The project has been hit by a lot of teething troubles, largely due to some bad luck with the cost of steel and what is probably some showboating between main contractor and sub-contractors. Also trying to build a very high-spec stadium in what must be one of the most expensive to build Cities in the world. Still, as Cobs said, we'll have the best when it's done.
