Man Utd, the biggest club in the world

I'm sick of hearing this sh*t about ManUre. Where the hell did this laughable, downright inaccurate title come from? Even some Reds here say we are second to ManUre as the biggest in the country!

Nobody was calling them the world's biggest club before they actually started to win things again at the start of the 90's. In fact, before then they weren't even the considered the biggest club in England (although you'll often hear Mancs claiming the country recognised them as the biggest even though they were utter sh*te in them days).

How do 'they' measure size anyway? Is it their 'global fans'? Like the millions of Japs who once worshipped them...only to transfer their allegienace to Real Madrid once Beckham f*cked off there?

Number of fans don't matter at all, otherwise clubs like Napoli and Dortmand can claim to be bigger than ManUre because they get more fans into their stadiums.

The only true measure of size, greatness or whatever else you want to call it is the type of trophies you have and the number of times you've won the most valuable ones. And by that criteria, ManUre don't even come close to being the best in England, let alone the world.

WE are the biggest club in this country, and until someone wins more LEAGUE titles and EUROPEAN CUPS than us, we will remain the biggest. Only Real Madrid (and maybe AC Milan) can claim to be bigger than us, the rest, including the TWO time European Cup winners (ha!) ManUre can f*** off.

I hope we batter these c*nts on Sunday just to remind them and their deluded f*cking supporters that the EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS are the greatest club in the land, and not them.

I think the 'title' came from the finance/value side of things although now that's not even true. Although some would have it that they have a biger fan base.

They will always be the second when it comes to trophy haul and real footballing success.

Interesting that when you travel you mention you are from Liverpool people say either 'great football club' or 'the Beatles' - you mention Man U and you used to hear 'Oh Beckham' and now 'oh Rooney' - it's always about individuals rather than the club.

I wouldn't determine the size of a club purely by success. You have to consider other things too like fanbase, money and so on. They're the bigger club, we're the most successful, sounds fair enough to me.

This depends on how you define 'bigger'. Success is the key element in my opinion. We don't lose much in comparasion when it comes to fan base, and they're not exactly well off anymore either.

I think you have to admit that they are a 'big' club. Whether they are bigger than us, I doubt it, but the size of their international 'machine' is bigger than ours.

Also, if you went on trophy haul alone, you could claim that notts forest are bigger than arsenal and chelsea.

It's not just the media that have christened ManUre as the 'biggest club in the world', they're fans champion this claim, at every opportuinity they can get. It's their default response to whenever people start comparing them to the TRUE biggest club in England.

"Liverpool have won more championships than any other English club"

Manc: "Yeah but United are the biggest club in the world!"

"Liverpool have won more European Cups than any other British club"

Manc: "Yeah but United are the biggest club in the world!"

"Only two clubs in the whole of Europe have won more European Cups than Liverpool"

Manc: "Yeah but United are the biggest club in the world!"

etc. etc.

So what your saying Mike is that despite Man United's financial success they have still failed to match us for trophies - wow, that's astonishing, you'd think questions would be asked...

maybe but I'll stick to pointing, laughing and occasionally waving one hand with all digits extended at them.

Read somewhere that for the past few seasons, Liverpool FC have had the most following of away supporters over the course of a season. Even seem to recall Everton were second last season.

Much as I hate to speak up for the scum, Man U are a bit handicapped in that comparison because - unlike everyone else - they don't have an away game at the biggest ground: Old Tr*ff*rd.

Apparently MSN says Liverpool are the 8th most searched for topic on their search engine. Ahead of any other football club. United were 52nd or something.

MSN Search... who uses that?

Scousers apparently.

Utd have underachieved in europe, but done okay domestically.

Arsenal is the same.

Liverpool on the other hand have done much better in Europe, than domestically. It was 15 years ago since you lot won the title.
