Did anyone see Gerrard breaking away & having a fit at Xabi because he didn't pass when struck his second?

 

After a couple of double takes he realised he'd just witnessed a piece of brilliance and applauded!!

To be fair to him thats the best thing I have ever heard come out of his mouth, made a change from the usual cr@p he comes out with.

not too sure "Xabi wanted to join Madrid" is true...his agent certainly did

 

but there was that story of AS journo who is based in san Sebastian who lives round the corner from him....Xabi used to go into a coffee shop most mornings before going to training.....the pre season before he joined us, AS in Madrid were reporting that Madrid and Sociedad had done a deal and he was going there....they rang there local journo said that he would check it out...went to this coffee shop and sure enough Xabi was there having his usualk before going to training....The journo asked him if it was true he was going to Real...and apparantly Xabi reolied..."I will never go to Madrid"

 

The local AS paper reported that Xabi would be joining Liverpool

I know Xabi said he 'expected' to be going to Madrid, as a Basque I think he is VERY happy to have had the option to be with us, and not having to go there. :)

 

Point taken though, Dave. Nice one.

I dont necessarily think it's pace as per se, but rather I think his anticipation which has made that step up further as he is even more 'in tune' with the pace of the game day by day and also that adds to his confidence in movement about the pitch.

I missed the first half (thank god) but Xabi was superb second-half and kept the whole team 'knitted' together. 95% of his passing was subliminal....

The Sunday that a*** played Chelsea, I watched the game with a freind of mine who is a Liverpool St holder  (and is a mate of P Crouch but thats another story)....

 

he went to a Charity function through work,, and was on the same table as Alex Ferguson...anyway they got chatting and he said that Ferguson was a really nice guy (sorry), talked up Rafa and Houllier alot......he said that his biggest regrets over the past couple of years were the follwong

 

1. Selling Sheringham too early

2. That Steven Gerrard would never sign for United... he said that he rang his agent who just gve him a flat "no"

3.  Not shelling out the money they were quoted by Sociedad three years ago...He said he will be the best midfielder in the world in three years, and is close to it now

And as for Xabi, the queue for his babies is now officially 29,497 long :hmm: With Dave right at the front, poor Xabi.

What I like about Xabi is that he never ever panics, He seems to have control of the ball at all times, and never rushes to a pass or tackle and is really Mr cool, when watching him play for Sociedad, thats what I first thought as well

Listening to Talk Cr@p this morning with the first hour of the show about Andy Townsend saying what a great goal and how difficult a skill Xabi's 2nd was. He said it was clearly the best goal of the day. Then you've got that bitter blue nose Mike Parry saying that any pro should be able to score when there is no keeper in the goal and was having none of what a great goal it was even saying he could score that 5 outta 6 goes!! Townsend kept saying if it was Rooney he wouldn't have shut up about it and also offered to take him to the nearest park and give him 50 attempts at it!!

the thing is...it isnt on a park..it was during a proffessional match

 

in many ways thats better than Beckhams....Beckhams was a great goal, but more a hit and hope

Funny thing was, I was thinking at half time what was wrong with Alonso, it was as bad a half as I have seen him have at Liverpool and then he just steps up thirty gears and scores two wonder goals

It was not an easy goal because the ball did not just drop at his feet with him just having to hit it right. He nicked it off the keeper, sidestepped him, looked up and curled it so tha the defender scrambling back sis not have any chance of getting to it. Fantastic goal.

I think SG was just about to turn and give off to Xabi for not giving him the ball, but i hit the net before he got to. Superb.
