Souness

Souness blames everybody but himself for his own short comings. No doubt in his mind the second goal was wrongly given and that Bowyer's sending off was harsh and changed the match in our favour!

I've said it before, he's the worst manager in the league and I cannot understand how he keeps getting hired by Premiership clubs.

Once he gets the sack by the Toon, other PL clubs may finally realise they are dooming themselves if they ever hire him as manager.

Oh well, he now speaks. From the official NUFC website:

"We got off lightly.

"We were played off the park in the first half, and 2-0 certainly didn't flatter them at half time.

"When it was 1-0 and we were in the last minute of the first half, we wanted to get the lads in and sort it out, but they made it 2-0 and gave us a mountain to climb.

"At 1-0 anything can happen, but 2-0 is a different story.

"It got a little bit better in the second half and they weren't as threatening. If we had a chance we may have got back into it, but the sending off ended those thoughts.

"They peppered our goal, and we have to learn from that. They were better than us, and we can have no complaints after that.

"You have got to dig in and get the ball back, and we didn't do it."

Pretty much spot on :D

does that translate as "i picked the wrong starting XI, including an injured CB and a left winger in centre mid, and had no f***ing idea how to change it"?

do you think if he picked any other XI would it have made any difference

probably not. not the point though. he's supposed to send out the team with the best possible preparation and chance of getting result. an injured centre back and a young winger in centre-mid is not the way to do that.

It was funny that he hadn't got the bottle to take off either Owen or Shearer after the sending-off so Shearer ended up in midfield.

they were 2-0 down, maybe it took bottle to leave his strikers on and try and get back into the game.
