Guilt over Hillsborough drives LFC fan to suicide.

That is really sad. I can't imagine the guilt he must have felt, over something he could never have predicted. Hopefully the club will have a minute's silence before the game on Saturday.

That is awful :-) I'm still on medication for depression triggered by Hillsborough myself. There are a lot of people who are in the same boat. This lad I guess just couldn't take anymore. Truly awful.

Any support groups or such set up for people traumatised following Hillborough.

Well, yes there are support groups. But think about it, survivor guilt, he must have been suffering. Its not likely that he'd have sought the right help is it ?

Aye, catch-22 situation.

You're probably right.

I was asking out of genuine ignorance about any help available.

Yeah there was counselling for anyone who wanted it. My cousin hated it, said he felt like they were trying to make him admit he wanted to kill himself. Strange thing, counselling. You really have to want to be in the room.

Yep quite true. I hated it when my ex dragged me there.

It's still painful to this day knowing that I was one of the lucky ones to get over the fence as quickly as possible.

RIP. Sad story.

I remember when there was the 20th anniversary a few stories were brought up in the media and one was of a mother who's son committed suicide after Hillsborough. Was a couple of years later IIRC, but similar in that he never got over the event.

Counselling was fine with me. I don't have a problem with it and still see a shrink now but is right, you do have to want to be there
