it was not like I remember!

In my memory, he picked it up in our half...takes it 10 / 15 yards and cracks it low past Bailey into the right corner (keepers)

But he picked it up in our half!.....And his speed takes it ways from there midfield...he runs f***ing 50 yards before smacking high above Bailey...

better than I remember

The ground he covered was nuts. He did a series of sprints to close down their midfield before tackling Whiteside, then went 60 yards and smacked it in. I don't ever remember him moving like that.

i remember that vividly..I can even remember the back of the Mirror and the pic of Moran handling it

f*** em

At least they didn't surround the ref and abuse him.

Cracking goal but hyped even there - " Nobody every tackled whiteside like that ". Shows speed and agility that you'd expect from Beardsley

I also thought McGrath scored with a header!

f*** me that was some finish too

He could play, he could

That was some finish indeed! I'm still young-ish so I was surprised to hear the scorer's name was McGrath...

Not far off how I remembered. I knew it went high because I was right behind the goal that night. It's funny seeing the speed and movement Molby had. But he seemed to lose some of that quite quickly.

And McManaman just got booked for swearing at the ref

If only it happened more often, eh, Rooney ?

Swearing AT the ref in the heat of the match should be accepted as part of the game. Addressing the ref using swearing is a different matter.

"Ah, for fu*k's sake ref!" should get a by-ball.

"Fu*k off ref, you cu*t!" shouldn't be accepted.

That's what Macca was booked for and that's what Rooney gets away with every match, with millions of kids watching and then replicating on the school fields.

Me too, although in my mind's eye I had mancs trying to tackle him and bouncing off ar5e over t1t as Rambo kept bombing on, but he actually just skipped around and away from them.

what if it's in Arabic or an obscure dialect from Upper Volta?

I never remember him picking the ball up so wide, or the run coming from so deep. His run is also more diagonal than memory served, too. Still, on balance its nice to see that a memory that has had no re-enforcement in nearly 25 years, was still pretty solid.

That's the only real discrepancy in my mind too. I thought he'd shaken off a couple of challenges on the way through. The route he took and way the ball went in were the way I remembered.
