Saw Robbie today

probably the first time in his career when there's only been around a dozen people watch an open training session.

Obviously most people in Wellington are more interested in tonight's rugby match between All Blacks and Australia, but it surprised me that there weren't more people out to see probably the biggest name in football behind Beckham to visit these shores.

Hopefully get a bigger crowd than normal tomorrow for the game to honour one of our greats, the A-League needs to make the most of these opportunities

At least the lack of people today meant I got both my Fowler shirt and autobiography signed

think he's got three or four so far and apart from a penalty the rest have been beauties

Scored one today, albeit it in training, had the ball on the right in line with the six yard box, players in the middle expecting a cross so he looped it over the keeper into the top left corner...cheeky pr!ck

When they were with the England squad, Shearer used to comment on the things Robbie did in training and Shearer used to think "how the hell did he just do that / score that"

Watching the game now on Iraq goals and the footy is poor.

I'll persevere though.

1-0 down are the Fury.

Both teams are a shambles, even by the standards of the A League, but how would you compare it to an encounter between two lowly MLS teams, just out of interest?

Phoenix line led by Chris Greenacre (released by Tranmere after being their top scorer last season) and Phil Ifill (released by Palace)... gives you an idea of the quality

Fowler lone striker today, well marshalled by Phoenix defender Ben Sigmund, didn't have a chance really until the freekick at the death

to be honest, I don't watch the lowly MLS teams as their games are rarely on national TV.

ESPN and FSC tend to show the marquee match ups, which aren't that bad unless the teams are decimated by international call ups.

are both of these A league teams new to the league? if they are, it will take a while for them to get any better.

Whats that?

If I remember correctly it was in fowler's second spell at the club, and he was injured. Mclaren came to melwood to chat with rafa and gerrard and fowler went to him and told Mclaren not to worry or something as he will be fit for the next england game, Mclaren didn't know whether robbie was joking or not
