I know it isnt right or fashionable to pick a scapegoat for any particular defeat but f***ing hell he is s*** isnt he?

What is his actual skill set? It sure isnt passing. Long or short.

So if he cant pass presumably he can tackle a bit? No. Cant do that either.

Clearly Rafa didnt have a lot of options open to him with Gerrard and Alonsos absence but he has to be at the top of a rather long list of players that are for the chopping block in the summer.

Agree, but does it warrant another thread on him .........................search menu?????

Lucas is an average player at the best of times and is expected to slot in seamlessly into one of the best midfields in Europe. We aren't talking about a top player under performing, we have seen the best of his abilities and it's not his fault that Rafa bought him for that money. He's just another poor buy from the manager.

he's absolutely abysmal. surely even the rafa-lovers who see him as doing no wrong have to admit how s**** he is. He does a bit of everything, just a shame he's no better than average at anything.

Lucas pretty much just kept it neat and tidy but offered little to no threat to the Manchester City back line. Our summer signings and our squad players have not stepped up to the mark this season and that's why we won't win the title.

Oh i thought this was a Dossena thread.

Ill just wait a few minutes then. He's probably next.

He should be, but Babel is pushing him strongly.

Quite simply, Lucas and Mascherano is one of (if not the) worst centre mid partnerships I have ever seen. Not one of them, NOT ONE, gets any where near the opposing box. You simply cannot win the league with two players of that limited ability going forward in a centre midfield partnership. It puts a massive over reliance on the wide players which is easy to defend for one, and another we don't really have good wide players. Yet it keeps happening time and time again.

Rafa, quite simply, does not have the balls in games like today to take a risk and play Aurelio alongside Masch. I'm sick and f****g tired of our cautious approach to games to prevent losing in the first instance, either ending with us trying desperately to score a winner in the last 10 minutes or raising our game as soon as we concede a goal.

For all Rafa's analysis of opposition teams and players, it's the blind f****g obvious, staring him in the face, that lets him down. Its a basic law of averages. With our first eleven compared to most teams in the prem, attack them for 90 minutes, you might lose a few, but you'll win more.

Lucas is fast approaching Sissoko territory, where his own fans are actually pissed off at seeing him on the team sheet to begin with. It's a great shame.

Did that happen to Momo? I must have missed that :D

I recall reading RAWK fairly extensively at the time, and the general sentiment when Sissoko was in the side was one of pre-emptive resignation at the fact he was destined to give the ball away all game etc.

It's not something I particularly agreed with, but Lucas being in the side at all is beginning to provoke similar reaction. It's a problem for him, because the crowd are starting to get on his back a bit. He's not helping himself with some of his choices, particularly in his passing which was very sloppy at times today, but he's still in his early twenties and can do without it. He'll probably be sold in the summer though, because he isn't really progressing as much as we expected.

I just don't think he'll adapt to the pace and the physicality of the English League, he'll thrive in Europe I have no doubts about that where you have more space and given more time on the ball.

Sissoko is doing really well at Juventus.. He has been amazing there which i think would happen to lucas if he leaves anfield

Rubbish, Sissoko has a lot of very good attributes, he just wasn't suited to the PL that well. Lucas has f*** all

Sissoko is alright, not suited to the English league though. Mental tackler and really poor passer of the ball at times.

Mascherano's in some rotten form

why did he feel the need to shoot every single time he got within 30 yards of the goal

He was trying to score
