Why are we so over confident?

Is anyone else getting annoyed with all the press from liverpool about how we can win the title, how we expect to win, how we are playing so well, etc etc etc.

 

STOP!!!!

 

We are playing well, we do look good, and most fans are optimistic about the season. but you know what? talking about it in the press is not us. Just go out there, win the next game and then the one after that. thats it.

 

I know the press ask the questions, use teh standard one game at a time.

 

For gods sake, we are entering our black october, we do not need curses.

 

just do the talking on the pitch.

Rafa has been trying to talk it down from what i've seen in the papers.

it's abouit time we had the confidence to say that we expect to win every game, I assume that all the players on all the teams say that before a game starts.

 

if it is the case that we expect to win every game, we should expect to win the title as well.

 

as for playing well, the results speak for themselves.

I think the key is to have the confidence without becoming complacent, all of the comments ive seen from Rafa and the players suggest thats the case. Winning breeds confidence but as Arsenal showed against Hull if you go into games not fully focused or over confident you will slip up.

 

So we need to go into games full of confidence but with the attitude that the current game is the most important one. If you look at the players we now have in the team Rafa has signed players with that mentality, Reina, Carragher, Mascherano, Gerrard, Kuyt, Torres, Keane etc.. these are players that are hard workers as well as being very talented.

The usual I've heard is 'we hope to challenge' or 'we want to still be in the race come April and May' You won't see much over confidence here or among most of our fans - or from Rafa and the players.

 

I'd be disappointed if they didn't have some belief in it though.

Think if you treat it as a problem you're only setting yourself for a fall.

 

The longer we stay "in the hunt" as they say, as the sesason continues, the more press hyperbole there will be.

 

We just have to concentrate on the reasons why there's so much speculation in the first place, i.e. some of the great performances we've had so far.

That's precisely the mentality had (have?), and that's why we didn't challenge.

The press are just building us up to bring us back down again and to get into Rafa.

 

At the moment:

 

Rotation is not a problem, but lose a game and it will.

 

Zonal marking is not a problem, but lose a game and it will.

 

We should just keep quiet and get on with the job in hand, you cannot control what the press says unless you are the manager of Manchester United.

the games against liege (2x), sunderland, 'boro, villa and stoke were at times painful to watch

more recently, the everton and manu games and the two european games showed how well we can play

 

if the good liverpool turns up we can certainly challenge, if the poor liverpool turns up too often it's going to be a struggle.
