Personally I cant see anything wrong with this, the people around the world that contributes with player facts for FM or CM or whatever they are called these days, will have a great knowledge about players from their local area and because of this be able to spot talents around the world that the big clubs or scouts of the big clubs will not be aware of.

 

By searching through the database they might find someone that looks interesting and they will send someone to watch him or get reports about his ability.

 

You would think agents/scouts are people with out of this world knowledge about the game, players and football in general, well they are not, I know a few personally so I should know what level of knowledge they actually have.

What do you know about Norwegian, Finnish, Swedish, Danish promising talents RP, or Mexican, Bolivian, ColombiAN etc?

 

For clubs to use this as a tool to be aware off talented players out there is not far fetched at all.

 

The people contributing with the data about the different league, clubs will have better knowledge than most about certain players, unless off course the scout comes from the same area.

I have not played CM since 97.

 

No one said in that clip that they used the ratings to form an opinion about a player, but because of the way it is build up through input from all over the world its a great database to take a look to see if anything interesting pops up, if it does they will try to get reports in before they decide to send a scout to watch the player.

 

Another and more usual way to do it these days is to visit a few of the acadamy`s in Africa, have a look at a few matches, get reports and then buy the rights fro the player before you try to get him into a club.

 

A mate of mine went a visit to Senegal just before Christmas and this is exactly how he did things, if clubs are interested they they send their own scouts to take a look or they invite the player to a trial, but the agency know owns the rights to the player.
