Do you want to keep him? Let him go? And is this true?

Off to Pompey for 8m?

CROUCH BACK TO POMPEY

By Scott Piecha

Peter Crouch has agreed to join Portsmouth in the summer in a move worth £8million.

The Liverpool striker will sign a four-year deal at the end of the season worth £60,000 a week to link up with Harry Redknapp again. Crouch played under Redknapp at Southampton and the Pompey boss sees him as the perfect partner for Jermain Defoe who joined in January for £7.5m from Spurs.

The 6ft 7ins beanpole striker has been looking for a way out of Anfield, with boss Rafa Benitez making it clear he is no longer a regular in the first team. Crouch has been linked with a move to Manchester City, Aston Villa and Newcastle, but has chosen to rejoin the South Coast side where he made his name.

With 18 goals in 37 league games for Pompey in 2001-2 he helped keep them in the Championship before Redknapp took over at Fratton Park to guide them into the top flight.

I'd be more than happy to keep him, but I'd be amazed if he does choose to stay. Whether it is Pompey or someone else, it won't be us he's playing for next season.

That will be a good deal for us considering he only has 12 months left on his cotract and has served us well for 3 seasons

As an aside, the bird was at the national at the w/e and some of her friends went out with the orange tan brigade.

Apparenlty young Peter was making a complete c*nt of himself in a club and then topped that by demanding that anyone with pictures of him on their phones delete it right away. When they told him to foxtrot oscar, Abi Clancy came over and asked the same.

I can understand the paranoia based on previous newspaper revelations but surely the lesson should be 'don't act like an a*** in public'???

If we can get 8m for him, no problem. See ya Pete.

there was something in the popbitch mailout talking about a player who wasn't getting in the first team because of extra curicular activities. I thought at the time it was Crouch given how quickly he's fallen out of favour.

There was also one about a player who was really lonely as none of his teammates liked his bird, thinking she was a golddigger, and so wouldn't go out with him while she was around. Hmmm.....

Back to on-the-pitch, would love Crouchy to stay, but if he's not be a regular than it makes sense for both parties for him to leave. £8m would be seen as a good deal for both clubs I think, given his contract situation. Should have signed him up on a longer one last summer.

I think he'll have a stellar season wherever he goes next season.

He wasn't particularly good this year, but his touch and technique have improved out of sight while he's been at Liverpool. At his age I think he's still due to play his best football.

Still, he's obviously not likely to be a regular at Liverpool and 8m would be great business at this stage of his contract.

Wasn't Gray saying Crouch's goal on saturday was a scuffed shot? Now Sky are reporting that he might be leaving, SSN are describing his goal as brilliant and asking how anyone who scores goals like that can be left out of the starting line up.

His winning days will be over.

He should sign a contract (take a leaf out of Sami's book), or FO

He hasn't been particularly well managed, particularly last season and so I can see why he'd want to go.

Think we are going to find it difficult to get hold of somebody who can do what he does though and is willing to sit on the bench for most of the season.

He doesn't seem to be willing to sit on the bench though

we will still have Kuyt, babel, Nemeth to cover Torres anyway
