There seems to be a certain amount of confusion over what went on in The Sandon public house on Saturday afternoon after Liverpool played Middlesbrough. What we know is that Tom Hicks Jnr visited The Sandon, was heckled by Liverpool supporters and left before the situation spiralled out of control.

There is nothing in the known facts the SOS, Liverpool Supporters Union, has any desire to condemn. If thousands of supporters are prepared to stand en masse in the Kop and protest against the current ownership then it should go without saying some, if not most, would be prepared to make these points to its public face given a rare opportunity.

Physical violence towards individuals is something which we will not condone, yet there is no evidence this occurred here. Indeed, Mr Hicks Jnr appears to have been treated for the most part with distance and disdain, not wholly unlike the treatment of Liverpool supporters by Hicks and Gillett and all those connected with them over the last twelve months.

Best be on the safe side Gibbo.

Fair enough, i just haven't seen anyone linking SOS with the incident though, apart from a few people saying there was an arranged meeting later. Ironically this is actually what Hicks should have done if he wanted to talk to Liverpool fans.

The YPC will be issuing their press release later!!

of what ant?

Just saying that on the Kop a few people are turning there back on this SOS group, the last thing they need is actions such as this being used as a stick to beat the SOS group.

We've had a load of emails, texts and phone calls. Just wanted to get something out on the forums about it.

I presume that is because Dave Usher said you had a meeting with him later that evening

the Continuity Liverpool Fans Group CLFG will be making an official statement shortly. i'll post it on here. they too have been inundated with texts wanting to know what went on in the Sandon, but cant tell them much as they were in the Oakie.

sharelfc have updated their website and given their official comment also:

'although we do not condone physical violence, imagine the effect of 100,000 fans each clearing their throats and collectively gobbing together. that is the collective power we aspire to. you'll never gob alone.'

YPC Official Press Release:

The YPC would like to claim credit for the incident involving Tom Hicks Jr in The Sandon public house after the Middlesbrough game on 23rd February 2008, involving the sharing of both lager and bodily fluids with Tom Hicks Jr.

The YPC would very much like to claim credit fro this, but sadly cannot do this as they were not involved in the incident, much to the disappointment of all involved with this splinter group.

The YPC would also like to take this opportunity to publicly and unequivocally condemn the deliberate waste of any form of alcohol under any circumstances, and trust this makes the YPC stance on the matter clear and non-negotiable.

Regards

The YPC.

Barrett of the echo said he was there, and that someone did SPIT at Hicks and did THROW their lager at him. Who did that? Does anyone know?

As I'm sure you are aware it is being reported in the USA papers and you can imagine the stereo-type that is being presented of LFC supporters. Especially after the last article in the houston press (i.e. the one about that bunch of drunks the SOS).

We need to be careful that Hicks doesn't win the PR battle by us being painted for the actions of a few scallies.

Who cares about any PR battle? As long as they f*** off out of our Club as soon as possible, they can claim all the moral high ground they want.
