stressederic Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 That comment tells you how far we have slipped from the olden days of constant singing from the Kop If that's irony then it's inspired. I suspect however it isn't.
Reds4Life Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 For me... and I did ask RTK about this... Just after YNWA... if we got Old Scouser Tommy up and running... and I mean singing it, not the 160bpm version for the rave scene... this would intimidate the f*** out of any supporters... It's a song that when it gets passed down from Grandad to Dad to son, you want to learn all the words to... As he lay on the battlefield dying dying dyingWith the blood gushing out of his 'edAs he lay on the battlefield dying dying dyingThese were the last words he said.... OOOOOOHHHHHHHH IIIIIIII AM A LIVERPUDLIAN.... All together now!!! YNWA
Leroy Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 (Sung to the tune of "Red River Valley" and "The Sash") Let me tell you the story of a poor boyWho was sent far away from his homeTo fight for his king and his countryAnd also the old folks back home So they put him in a Highland divisionSent him off to a far foreign landWhere the flies swarm around in their thousandsAnd there's nothing to see but the sands In a battle that started next morningUnder a Libyan sunI remember that poor Scouser TommyWho was shot by an old Nazi gun As he lay on the battle field dying (dying dying)With the blood gushing out of his head (of his head)As he lay on the battle field dying (dying dying)These were the last words he said... Oh...I am a LiverpudlianI come from the Spion KopI like to sing, I like to shoutI get thrown out quite a lot (every week) We support the team that's dressed in redA team that we all knowA team that we call LiverpoolAnd to glory we will go We've won the League, we've won the CupWe've been to Europe tooWe played the Toffees for a laughAnd we left them feeling blue - Five Nil ! One twoOne two threeOne two three fourFive nil ! Rush scored oneRush scored twoRush scored threeAnd Rush scored four! All you need is RushAll you need is RushAll you need is Rush, RushRush is all you need
Reds4Life Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 FFS Mike.. If people who are new to the club and want to learn about the club, why can't we help them?? If Tommy is a song they love (and for f***ing good reason) then why can't we help them... When was the last time you heard it sung properly and when was the best time you heard it being sung? That's the sort of info these lads want to learn about...

Reds4Life Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 Ta Redden.. If we are the best supporters in the world at least we can f***ing act like it!! First time I was at Anfield was the year after the treble... against Oxford United... with Ray Houghton and a certain John Aldridge in their team... when I was 4. Heard Tommy getting belted out while I was in the Kop and wanted to learn it the whole way home so the next time I got taken I could sing along...
pipnasty Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 f*** this - I'm off to bed, I just can't cope anymore
johngibo YPC Posted February 24, 2008 Posted February 24, 2008 f*** this - I'm off to bed, I just can't cope anymore I'm staying up to see Gray's reaction to being called everything thats wrong with the modern day Liverpool fan!!
owenthomas Posted February 25, 2008 Posted February 25, 2008 It's all becoming a touch surreal...after virtually every thread on here making me feel depressed over the last few months i, for one, am glad for this education.. and i hope people leave them to educate further as i - probably like you, Mike and, for sure, Gray - need this thread for the beacon of shining light it's putting upon us.. please, no-one spoil it*.. *note: Gray has every right to mind!
