Let's enjoy the competition that is clearly the managers priority this season.

He knows we will only scrape 4th, he wants to bring us number 6, let's support him.

We should all get behind the manager and team for tuesday, that doesn't just mean during the game.

4th, your optomistic?, as for 6 I wanted him to bring home number 19 or challenge for it

What do people do differently?

It's a two-legged tie, so two days. Nice try though.

Well he doesn't have much choice now anyway.

Oh what a sad sad season.

i've actually been surprised by the level of vitriol towards the manager this season. he's a good man. maybe i shouldn't have been.

be f***ing great if he knocks inter out over two legs though and reminds a lot of our fans that he's not a total c*nt.

The funny thing is, I actually believe whole heartedly that Benitez can win Inter Milan and guide us to the final.

The sad thing is that for all our sucess in Europe we have made zilch progress in the league.

Credit to Benitez he's a 'f***ing Genius' in Europe, but he hasn't grasped the English game and is still trying to implement the tactics he used in Spain here, which will never, ever ever work.

Agree with the sentiment. The European Cup is all we have but it wouldn't be a bad end to the season now would it? Imagine Rafa bringing home number 6.

some fans will be upset with that as it will buy rafa more time!

I disagree. I think we have seen progress in the league, just at different times.

Last season we had a good home record and a s*** away record. We rectified the away record this season, had a much better start to the league than the three previous years but our home form has let us down.

I think there are plenty of grounds for optimism with Rafa. I also think he is a decent man who has been undermined this season and he deserves a full season with full support before proper assessments of his future can be made.

So how do you explain that we this season have one of the best away records in the league while in the other three seasons only Chelsea have got a better home record than us?

What is it he does not understand, is it playing at home or is it playing away?

Agree with you big time here mate.

I felt this, strongly, towards the end of Houllier's reign, when people started getting downright nasty towards a good man who'd given us some great memories.

It's fair enough believing strongly that the club's best interests can be served by a change of manager, it's quite another to completely abandon respect for a genuinely admirable club servant.

It's not easy to enjoy the games at the moment Dan, but I take your point. If we can't get 'up' for a game against Inter Milan then what's the point supporting the club.

BTW when's ya comin' home ?

Every season.

He seems to thrive off two-legged games. If only the Premiership was played like that.

Do you actually believe that ?

I couldn't care if it bought Osma Bin Laden a 2 year management contract at Anfield if he 'brought home no. 6'.

It really does our fans a disservice.

"the team is having a mediocre season, fighting for 4th but still in the european cup"="rafa is a c***".

there are many, and some on this forum in particular, who seem determined to turn this thing that is supposed to be fun, remember that? into a 24 hour source of complaint, I just don't understand it; we're in the last 16 of the european cup yet these idiots have learned nothing from 04-05, and would rather not enjoy the journey to what could make us remember this season a lot more fondly.

If we lose against inter, then so be it, while we are still in the competition, given what we have previously achieved with this manager, why go into this with anything but excitement, regardless of what is happening in the league.

Some people should remember that the status of Liverpool FC throughout the world is down to it's European cup wins, forget the league, it's european success that defines the club.

We could go and win the league for the next 10 years but if the Mancs overtook our CL wins they would rightly be seen as Britains most successful club.

Thats why Milan and Real Madrid have the status they have in the world game.
