Odemwingie Linked With Liverpool

Nigerian international forward Osaze Odemwingie may be on his way into the Premiership after dishing out an impressive performance at the recently concluded African Cup of Nations in Ghana.

According to reports on Brilafm.net, the Locomotiv Moscow striker could be making an 8 million pound move from his Russian club side to Premiership giants Liverpool during the summer transfer window.

The site indicates that Reds Boss, Rafael Benitez had sent a scout, Marc Guinness, to monitor the forward player during the African Championship, with the scout in turn being impressed with the player’s abilities on the ball.

Rafael Benitez could be ready to swap his Ukrainian hitman, Andriy Voronin, for the Super Eagles star striker during the summer.

Odenwingie, born in Tashkent, is a versatile 26-year-old who can play on the left flank or through the middle. He signed on at "Loko" in 2007 from Lille OSC.

I've decided our next signing should be Aiden McGeady. Maybe wee Gordon will swap him for Voronin.

He's starting to fulfill his potential alright, he still needs to bulk up a bit though.

So £8million or a swap - makes sense

I don't think they meant a direct swap, just that Voronin's place in the squad will be taken by Odemwingie

Looked rangy and pacey with a decent skill level and football brain, from the little I've seen would look better behind a striker or as part of a front three than on the wing, reminds of Berger. No idea how he'd fair in the premier league, only seen him play ACN which is necessarily slower football, with more space and separation from defenders.

oh gawd, haven't we learned our lessons about signing ACN players based on performances

Altho: saying that, how did Rigobert Song play? any better than when we had him?

he was great in the semi against ghana, easily MOTM. In the final though he made the howler that gave the (deserved) goal to Egypt

btw, who did we sign based on their ACN performances?

I'm probably wrong but Diouf? Diao? Song?

you are wrong

diouf and diao were signed before the world cup in 98 based on their performances in france, Song was also signed from the french league

nothing to do with how they played at the ACN
