Just interested to see what people think?

For what its worth, Ive never been a fan of the national team, purely because I can't bring myself to cheer on players I despise just because they happen to be a wearing an England shirt.

I'm usually indifferent but I'm midly amused as I fully expected England to qualify, got in at half eleven last night put the teletext on and saw they'd lost, couldn't help but find it slightly amusing. I am looking forward to a summer free of nobheads with St Georges flags hanging out of their car windows, though but I wouldn't say I was "deliriously happy" about it.

Delighted.

No grown men wearing face paint. No 90% of cars having them crappy flags on. None of the boring media hype. Our English players get a rest, so do everyone elses of course but I think Gerrard is the best English players so it benefits us the most. No watching Spain v Croatia and instead of analysing a great game at half time it's "We're live to the England team hotel where the boring, bland, dull, lifeless Garth Crooks asks pointless questions like do you believe you can win the tournament to the players. No pubs being rammed with blerts who don't even like football for the other 23 months every 2 years. Austria and Switzerland have their plastic chairs left in tact.

Plenty more reasons but I cant be arsed.

slightly disapointed as you want all the big teams to be there, but that is offset by the fact that now i can enjoy euro08 with real football fans, and not the part time fans that come out every two years

and to be honest, unless Mcclaren was getting the sack regardless of the result yesterday england would have really struggled to get out of their group, it would have been worse than euro88!!!

the major disappointing thing for me is that Russia are a boring team to watch, and they are very poor.

had a spring in my step this morning! :D

watching it with a bunch of Croatians and being an honorary Croat for the evening helped as well!

I'm slightly amused

But I felt a surprising pang of guilt for Gerrard and Crouch. Crouch in particular

Suprised myself today by being slightly bothered about it. Still, it's a simple choice between win last night and win on Saturday.

I always think having the host nations and your home nation in the competition makes for a better, more memorable tournament.

Very disappointed, but knowing we got what we deserved and things need to be shaken up. Quite depressed, annoyed and just wound up by the SCS press conference. Every question about reasons for the failure, things that went wrong last night, problems along the way, anything, greeted with,

'Not sure that's a question for today, what I will say is that I've always said I'll be judged on results, and they've not gone our way, so that has been shown to be the case, I'll give my opinions on why to the FA at a later time, but not sure it's a question for today. I will add that I think I'm a better manager now that I was a year ago, things I've learnt, I will bounce back for the next challenge'

Repeated it 10 times.

The none Irish, Welsh and Scottish must be struggling to find somebody to support anyone but

Not really. It'll be nice to be able to relax and hopefully enjoy the footy although I fully expect the tournament to be blighted by pundits moaning about England's absence.

So chuffed.....ahhhh i was the only person in the pub crying whilst laughing and smiling at the Final whistle... also put a £10 bet on Croatia to win it.....read out the bet in a packed bookies just to annoy the sad basterds! ahhh lovely

Looking at the results I find I am not surprised really. This is the internet for you, where most of the people on a forum are from abroad.

Me? Born and bred English from Greater Manchester and just cant help supporing my national team.

There you go, what can I say.

Cobs, you and I are in full agreement.

 1984 was the best tournament of all. England weren't in it.

Yeah, but that's only because there were too many foreign players in that other premiership we used to have before sky invented football...

don't necessarily think that's true at all.

who comes first for you, england or united?

I'm amused. I usually support England, but I couldn't bring myself to get behind this circus of Ego's, especially after the treatment of Carragher. Plus the only way McClaren was going to go was for England to get knocked out. He got everything he deserved for selecting on reputation and maassaging and pandering to overinflated ego's.

Didn't people used to say the same about Eriksson?

Considering I was 2 then, that one might have slipped under my radar ;)
