The_Adder Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 I am missing something?? Does the England manager (whoever he is ) ever, ever watch Jamie play? A cpuple of facts Mr McClaren: * Jose Reina has, for the 2nd time in two seasons, gained the most clean sheets of any Goalkeeper in the league - Mr Jamie Carragher plays in front of him. * Liverpool reached the Champions League final for the 2nd time in two years, gaining clean sheets in such places as Chelsea (twice), Juventus, Dutch Champions PSV and dominated a Barca attacking three regarded as 'the best in the world - twice. * Held in such high regard by the players at the club that 'they wouldnt swap him for any other defender in the world' Now when it comes to England, he has Terry and Rio in front for him, two people he had managed to help his team keepo more clean sheets than theirs over the last two year. I rate Terry, you'd be a fool not too, but how is he not in the keep over Rio? Amazing. Whats even more amazing is I've just read that LEDLEY KING, yes, the one whos been injured practically all season and cannot boast anywhere near any of the points has apparently given the nod over Jamie, absolutley baffling. And I bet Stevie still wonders why people want someone else in as soon as possible as England manager. Jamie, your a defensive legend, we love ya lad even if the England Managers are blind to your world class ability. YNWA
johngibo YPC Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 presumably it is because JC is playing right backI don't think Carra plays with the same heart for England anyway, so isn't the same player
fyds Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Jamie would play with the same heart in his kids school's Dad's 5 a side - he doesn't have any other way.
johngibo YPC Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Jamie would play with the same heart in his kids school's Dad's 5 a side - he doesn't have any other way. maybe, i just think he never looks that bothered
SME Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 I think its because to put it in LFC terms then Terry does the Carra role and Ferdinanad / King do the Agger role, therefore for England with Terry being first choice they're looking for an "Agger" to play alongside him.
JohnnyH Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 i dont think Carra is arsed, and neither am I I think he is arsed. Don't be fooled by the ones that would have you believe that only Owen loves England. Gerrard would move mountains to play for England and I don't think Carra is far behind.
owenthomas Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 presumably it is because JC is playing right backor not.............. according to reports Wes Brown's managed to shift him from there too.. :o i agree though - don't think he plays with the same heart for England.. i reckon he would be bothered about missing out to King and Brown though, professional pride will dictate that i'd imagine!..
Alonso Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 presumably it is because JC is playing right backI don't think Carra plays with the same heart for England anyway, so isn't the same playerDyer or Brown by all accounts!
johngibo YPC Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 Dyer or Brown by all accounts! To be fair, they have both had great seasons
Ronnie Whelan Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 (edited) I think he should just retire from Internationals. Edited June 6, 2007 by Ronnie Whelan
fyds Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 At least as long as Eng-ur-land keep selecting c*cks as managers.
HK Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 I think he is arsed. Don't be fooled by the ones that would have you believe that only Owen loves England. Gerrard would move mountains to play for England and I don't think Carra is far behind. That's correct.
Tones Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 I think he should just retire from Internationals. I agree. Bad enough King gets in ahead of him at CH. but if Brown or Dyer get RB in front of him the he should just tell McLaren to f*** off. Those 2 arent even close to being nearly the defender carra is. I dont know how he can be arsed with that.
Cunny Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 I think its because to put it in LFC terms then Terry does the Carra role and Ferdinanad / King do the Agger role, therefore for England with Terry being first choice they're looking for an "Agger" to play alongside him. this is my take on it, I think everyone knows how good Carra is (McLaren included it). This is more about centre back partnerships than individuals. A Terry/Carra partnership is a bit samey and one paced if defensively very good. While I don't think Rio is as good a defender as either of them - he is quicker, a better passer and more composed on the ball. This is why he is picked ahead of Carragher.I can see no logic why the likes of King or Brown would be picked ahead of Carra though. The less Carra plays for England the better for me.
toshi Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 i dont think Carra is arsed, and neither am I i think Carra is arsed, not sure about you.....

Guest paisley81 Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 not sure Carra will feel that way. after his performances over the last few seasons, against some of the best players in the world, he must be asking himself what more he has to to do to get a start for England in his proper position, and when the chance does arise he's overlooked for the inexperienced, injury prone Ledley King, who has hardly played all year. all this talk of the right partnership is nonsense too, they're only playing Estonia who'll barely get out of their own half.
Cunny Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 http://icliverpool.icnetwork.co.uk/0500liv...-name_page.html Carragher axed for England crunch showdownJun 6 2007 by Chris Bascombe, Liverpool Echo JAMIE Carragher has been dealt an amazing double snub ahead of tonight?s crucial Euro qualifier in Estonia. Manchester United reserve Wes Brown and Newcastle?s Kieron Dyer are preferred by under-fire England coach Steve McClaren. Brown, who was a peripheral figure in Manchester United?s title campaign, starting less than half their games, is favourite to force his way into the starting line-up. But even Dyer, who has hardly ever played in defence, is ahead of Carragher in the queue. Just as contentiously, Tottenham?s Ledley King has been selected at centre-half. The decision is believed to be at odds with the view of assistant manager Terry Venables, who?s been pushing the claims of the Liverpool man to no avail. Venables believes Carragher is good enough to be well established at centre-half alongside John Terry. Carragher was used in his less favoured right back role against Brazil last Friday, when he performed well behind David Beckham. But having spent an entire international career being shoved from pillar to post by a succession of hapless England managers, today?s decision will rank as one of the most upsetting of all for the 29-year-old, who has enjoyed one of his best seasons ever. It will be seen on Merseyside as further evidence Carragher still hasn?t shrugged off his status as the most underrated defender in the country, appreciated for his talents far more at Anfield and on the continent than in England. Only two internationals ago, McClaren was hailing Carragher?s ?fantastic? performances against Manchester United and in the Champions League against Barcelona. There?s better news for Anfield duo Steven Gerrard and Peter Crouch. Gerrard appears to have won his battle to convince McClaren he?ll serve his country better in central midfield, while Crouch partners Michael Owen in attack.
psl Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 all this talk of the right partnership is nonsense too, they're only playing Estonia who'll barely get out of their own half. So the manager shouldn't play his best defence then? Odd comment. I agree with everything you've said otherwise, Carra should be first choice alongside Terry.
Cobs Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 all this talk of the right partnership is nonsense too, they're only playing Estonia who'll barely get out of their own half. not remotely the point at all
Florist Cinema Pond Goal Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 How King gets ahead of Carra is beyond me. I never thought I'd get to this stage but I wouldn't mind an England defeat tonight.
Ronnie Whelan Posted June 6, 2007 Posted June 6, 2007 How the f*** can Wes Brown get in there ahead of Carra?
