If there was ever an example of this London bias thing the hype around these two is it. Benny got 18 league goals and his overall performances were class too whenever I saw him. Berbatov is class too but McCarthy was just as good/better

Robbie keane also had a great season playing with Berbatov but for some reason most people think the bulgarian is the new pele

In 1999 when regretably, those fvckers won the treble, it was still Ginola that won Footballer of the year, on the back of a few good performances in the cups.

It happened to Carra, when facing France in Euro 2004, and the press kept bringing up that game at Arsenal when Henry scored, and so Carra got ousted for King. And so on, and on, the list is endless in the southern biased towards England.

you lot would have destroyed Milan that night if you had berbs and keane up front imo, Kuyt puts the effort in I will give him that but technically he's poor and needs someone up top with some class besides him,

you have the money, you have the appeal so what's the hold up ? baffles me even after your 05 win you didn't push on and use that as a platform to attract the real big names, whoever is in charge of your deals isn't good enough.

Probably not at all wrong

We didn't have the money to attract the real big names after Istanbul, whoever they may be. Not sure we do now either but we'll see.

If I had a choice it'd have to be Berbatov.

I think he has great fast feet, is intelligent and has adapted well to the Premiership.

I know McCarthy has adapted well too, but I'd just give Berbatov the edge.

Oh yes we have - wait and see...completely different ballpark.

We would of destroyed them had we started Crouch.

Can't argue with that.

I think Keane scored the same number as Berbatov but has taken about 10% of the credit it seems.

Don't understand the hype with Berbatov at all. He's good, that's it, he's not the new Van Basten or anything.

Berbatov is going to get alot better i believe next season. Theres more to come he just seems on the edge of being very very good problem being is playing for Spurs might hold him back but on the other note Spurs need him to stay if they are to progress further.

The thing with Berbatov is he has a huge amount of skill and touch, as high a level as any other striker in England, and that's what gets people purring, not really that he scores anymore than others, that his stats are better, but that he can do special things.

Having watched him in the flesh his strengths and weaknesses really stand out.

He plays it at his own pace, you wont see him chasing lost causes or running channels for the team, he makes his mind up very early in the move if he's going to make the effort to join in, it can look very lazy and to be fair probably is, especially for a player strong and big enough to put in a Drogba like display away from home.

Then on the other side, when the ball does go to him, near everytime, control is class, vision is superb, touch is class, strength is deceptive and something constructive happens, all done with that bit of extra time that marks out the best sportsmen. He's great to watch and has the ability to produce something special. Others like Kuyt and McCarthy(most days, I've seen him chuck in a lazy one) work harder, with less ability.

Agree with that, he's a real highlight reel man.

He's not as good as some are making him out to be right now, but apart from Drogba no forward had a better season in the premiership.

McCarthy did really well too this season. I think Berbatov is a better player though and there's no question of him being good enough for us. Any team would take him.
