I've just bid on a third set of tickets on eBay (other two turned out to be fakes) and the fella's a newbie on eBay, no history, regstered as being in Lisbon, Portugal.

I e-mailed him for a scan of the tickets as he's only posted an watermarked e-mail confirmation from UEFA. He said he hasn't got the tickets yet but according to the Greek FA he will have them tomorrow and he will send me scans then - which I imagine will have his name on. He gave me a phone number and it turns out to be Greek.

Should I trust him?

I have been sent UEFA receipts, photo's of tickets etc...

the UEFA receipt had been poorly photoshopped to change the number of tickets... and personally I reckon it was from last years Final as well.... but someone had put a watermark on it... but three different sellers on ebay have sent me the same UEFA receipt with the same watermark on it..

Don't trust anyone on there mate..

I'm gonna wait till i get out there before i think about touting it

That way i can look at the ticket, and decide if its fake or not

And beat up the tout and stick the face value in his pocket

Well i'm not a thief like!

You need to be circumspect about any site which has a guy on there selling an 'imaginary friend. and actually getting takers!

I read somewhere recently that UEFA had cancelled some tickets sold by touts for the CL final so beware of buying anything on ebay. Even if the tickets are genuine they well be annulled by UEFA.

When I'm buying something like this, I'll request that the person send a new picture of the tickets, and one that has something in the picture that I ask for.

Like a picture of the tickets with a watch, or todays paper, in this case whatever is the local paper in lisbon.

And under no circumstances send money using western union.

Of course the other side of this is we're all probably out there bidding against each other for these tickets!

Posted

True, so I should go all adayinthelife and not trust anyone.

Anyhoo, I've been outbid on the ones in Greece and another couple in the US and I'm not gonna pay silly money.

Also just on a tangent would you like to buy these magic beans?

I'll take them

When does the auction end? If he can send you the scan tomorrow then it should be easier for you. With a big purchase, you want to wait until the end of the auction anyways to keep the price low. You may also want to contact PayPal to inform them you may be making this purchase and ask them what protection you have. Usually they insure you up to a certain amount. Hope that helps.

can anyone scan a ticket or even the letter from uefa to the ballot winners and send it to

paddybutler@gmail.com

been offered some but i dont know aout buying off the net. at least if its off someone over there I can check it out first

Paypal will insure you for up to 200 USD but if the person has a 98% rating and sold over 50 items they will insure to 2000 USD. Checked earlier.

Had a fella tell me he had 2 neutral cat 1 for 700 euro. He originally said 1000 but when I said all I had was 700 he dropped to that without a question. Don't think there is any chance of me bidding for tickets on eBay.

Just seen this warning on Ebay: (this is only part of it)

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINAL TICKET SCAM - BEWARE -

If your thinking of Buying any - read this first!

Im posting this because it appears there is a few scams in progress. People in Greece are selling there tickets on ebay. They would like you to contact them direct & part with your money through western union. I called these guys up to transfer money & they said they have had hundreds of problems with champions league final tickets & fraud. Ebay will not accept any responsibilty & neither will Western Union.

Dont fall for it!!!

See a series of emails below between me and a Greek guy selling two tickets.

Email starts here with the last email sent, first!

Can you deliver them prior to payment? I know it's a big ask but this

Posted

eBay appear on top of it now all the crooked ones are getting cancelled fast..

You can tell as they will always have an email address in the listing asking you to email them for buy it now price.

And if you use the ask the seller a question the seller will invariably get back to you and let you know they are not selling anything like that.

Ebay really do as little as possible about scammers. The wholesalers that operate there are the only ones to deal with

if you are buying anything through that site.

Western Union is the problem, there is no comeback with it.

And as I've stated a few times, make sure they send you a pic of the tickets

and have them put a random thing beside the ticket.

As you never know where they have ripped the ticket pic off from.
