What a bloody rollercoaster. Ever since this Rafa geezer has taken over I reckon there are more LFC supporters on the heart attack risk list than any other club.

Reckon supporting this damn club is gonna kill me.

Can't say much more, got another beer to down but yet again, I am walking around with a big stupid grin, which probably will still be with me for several days.

Gerrard:

'The first time round was special but to do it again after being a goal down to a magnificent team like Chelsea. It is unbelievable - together we achieved it.

'The atmosphere helped, the managers' tactics, everything was spot on. But we crossed the line and we stuck together.

'We have the best goalkeeper in the world.

'But all credit to Chelsea.'

'That's Jose for you - he's been a credit to English football, he makes us laugh now and then.

'I think he was a bit disrespectful calling us a little club. Two finals in three years - not bad for a little club.'

Kuyt

It was very special for me - it will be my first final in my first year at Liverpool.

'We just believed in it. Pepe was fabulous.'

Reina

Just a last step. We must do it.

Benitez

'We had confidence because we had players who practice in every training session - they like to do it,'

On Reina: 'He is a player that's always good with penalties.'

'Every player and every supporter (deserves the win) - the atmosphere was amazing today.'

Astonishing game of football.

Both teams have a lot of character and resilience but we beat them with real heart and desire.

It was difficult to find any positives from our lacklustre football lately and there were a lot of doubts leading up to this game. As match day approached the confidence grew, belief from the supporters and from the manager flowed. I fully expected us to go in to that game and just bowl Chelsea over with pure force of will.We started with a good high tempo but the passing wasn't coming together and possession wasn't as good as hoped.

We persevered and were rewarded with a brilliant set piece, Agger stepping up and curling the ball in with that sweet left foot. Chelsea were completely fooled, Crouch and Kuyt baiting them inside the box leaving space for the shot from outside. We could really be devastating if we focused more on better executed set pieces, Crouch and Kuyt in the air and Alonso, Gerrard ,Riise, Agger with the strikes. Personally I'd put Alonso in charge of all set pieces.

Our play on the whole wasn't the best. In places we held good possession but failed to create real opportunities. We also reverted to a long ball quite a bit coming to the end.

People may complain about Kuyt at times, failing to hold up the ball and bring people in, but man does that guy run his heart out.He really didn't stop running the whole game, even in extra time when Carra was falling over cramped.. Kuyt was running and harrassing. He was on even hand to score that goal from Alonsos rebound. Brilliant performance.

Pepe Reina man of the match. You just knew it was in the bag when it came to penalties. The man is immense.

Carragher and Agger were brilliant aswell. Agger clattered Drogba about the place, all Drogba could do all game was dive around like the useless t*** he is.

I was sick as a dog watching this , shaking and trying not to vomit. So relieved it's over. This was our toughest match in the Champions League and there is no doubt in my mind we will be champions again. Hopefully this doesn't invoke the mockers but we have the beating of either Man U or Milan.

Also well done to Zenden, got his goal and did well overall over the two games. The criticism lately has been undeserved lately I feel. He was pretty terrible earlier in the season.. seems bit like the fashionable thing to do is complain about him.

I have to praise Rafa for letting Bolo take the first pen. I would never have done that. Guess his experience was a huge factor, he ended up taking the best penalty of the lot. Zenden = Smicer 2007

Reina is Pepe, and I thank you

Jose: "I respected Liverpool always in my words. I don't need to say more and today I think the best team was Chelsea. It is a moment when everybody has to be strong. They (the Chelsea players) have a lot of reasons to be proud. They did a great run in the Champions League. We were the best team today, even against a team only playing for the Champions League. In extra-time we were the only team who tried to win, but football is like that and the penalty shoot-out is part of the game."

Who the feck is he trying to fool? Congrats for winning the Carlington Cup Jose, now sod off.

Gerrard also admitted the pre-match comments from Jose Mourinho helped spur the Reds on.

"That's Jose for you - he's been a credit to English football, he makes us laugh now and then, I think he was a bit disrespectful calling us a little club. Two finals in three years - not bad for a little club."

ADIOS SIGNOR BENITEZ

Just under a week ago battle commenced with Liverpool for a place in the Champions League final to be held in the Greek capital of Athens on May 23. Tonight sees the return leg of the game that we?ve all been waiting for. The 1-0 victory at Stamford Bridge in the first leg gives us the edge and the chance to eclipse the sorrow of 2004 and 2005. A win or a draw at Anfield would see a massive blue invasion of Athens, a huge amount of Ouzo being quaffed and a Chelsea party unlike anybody has ever seen. The flip side is, well, I don?t want to even think, except to say, that it won?t happen.

Before we do start thinking of packing up for a few days in Athens there was some bad news on the injury front as Andriy Shevchenko joined the casualty list, which currently includes Ricardo Carvalho and Michael Ballack. No specific reason has been given for Shevchenko?s absence, but then again if we want to play with eleven men at Anfield then it may not have made much difference if he was fit or not. Some good news comes in the shape of Arjen Robben; he?s made the squad and could be named amongst the substitutes, if required. As for Liverpool, who cares?

After Saturday some pride took a dent, but as we know these Chelsea players and this Chelsea team fight to the bitter end, come hell, or high water. In the knockout stages of this competition we have scored at Porto and Valencia as well as scoring two goals at Barcelona and three in Sofia during the group stages. With the away goal rule counting double, a solitary goal at the Kop end from Didier Drogba would send the Liverpool fans away crying into their flat bitter. (Flat and bitter will be two words to describe Liverpool fans come the end of the game)

Need I say more? This game is of epic proportions. I don?t need to talk about past results, dates and players. This is the game that every Chelsea fan wants us to either win or draw to get to Athens on May 23. If we do make it I can assure you that there will be one or two headaches come the morning. Will Liverpool have the bottle, or will they just throw them onto the pitch instead?

My Prediction:

Benitez said that his fans are the ?Special Ones?. Has he been watching them throw bottles and act like petulant children? That really is special coming from that Spanish Juan. The real ?Special One? will have the last laugh. Remember when we went up there and won 1-4? Benitez claimed, ?He had the measure of Chelsea? Anyway, it?s Chelsea all the way. We don?t need to win, but we will 0-2. Olé!

C?MON CHELSEA ? ALL THE WAY TO ATHENS!

Maureen has outdone himself with his comments this evening. I'm absolutely over the moon that we've won. To see John Terry crying again was sweet, but to see Maureen's delusional bitter comments about being the better team, just makes victory even sweeter. The man has a mental illness that results in him seeing his own special (un)reality.

It bloody wouldn't. They could scarcely muster enough fans for tonight, last seasons FA Cup Semi Final or this years Final at Wembley.

LOL I wonder if he meant that.

I just listened to the BBC audio interview post match with Rafa and someone mentioned to Rafa that Maurinho said Chelsea was the better team and Rafa said, with genuine astonishment... "He said this!?"... Then everyone had a good laugh
