Liverpool are reportedly on the verge of signing Helsingborgs starlet Alexander Kacaniklic.

The 15-year-old impressed during a 12-day trial at Anfield in February and returned to the club for another visit earlier this month.

"It was really fun," he told Helsingborgs Dagblad. "The first training session was a bit nervy, but afterwards it went very well.

"The coaches felt that it went very well and I came around on the wing all the time.

"I believe in myself and I have always dreamt about becoming a professional.

"It's at this age that you develop the most and the conditions are much better at Liverpool than at Helsingborgs."

The next Kaca?....coat!

It's quite strange that we've not had a Swedish star since Hysen. Hopefully this will change in a few season.

Those -ic ending names seem to replace the former favourite -sson in the Swedish names.

Deal done

Liverpool have added another young prospect to their ranks in the shape of Swedish teenager Alexander Kacaniklic.

The midfielder first impressed during a 12-day trial at Anfield in February, before shining again in April, and has now signed a three-year contract to move to England.

Explaining his decision to leave Helsingborgs, the 15-year-old expressed his belief that his career will be better served on Merseyside.

"It's at this age you develop the most and the conditions are much better at Liverpool," Kacaniklic told Helsingborgs Dagblad.

Rafa Benitez is currently plotting an overhaul of his first team squad, and the acquisition of the young midfielder is another step in his side project to freshen up his reserve options.

The Reds also completed deals for Hungarian teenagers Krisztian Nemeth and Andras Simon on Monday.

"side project" dude.

So are we going to have back-up players and side project back-up players from now on?

Maybe Rafa's plotting for Liverpool B's entry into the First Division.

If he's signing a full contract then its likely he'll go straight to the reserves, but if he's only 15 then maybe he'll be an exception and accept playing for the youth side ?

I can see the reserves getting pretty competitive for places soon. Maybe a load of them will go out on loan again.

That's correct. Dalla Valle was invited to Athens by us but I read somewhere that he refused the invitation, because 'playing football is more important than watching others play it' or words to that effect.

The correct reason could be the fact that he has a thigh injury and needs an operation...

Anyway he hasn't signed any contract with us, so there's no telling if he'll ever join us.
