Liverpool to bid for Blackburn winger Pedersen

March 04, 2007

Liverpool boss Rafa Benitez is preparing a major bid for Blackburn Rovers winger Morten Gamst Pedersen.

The left-side of midfield remains a problem area for Benitez with Mark Gonzalez struggling to make the position his own in the absence of injury-plagued Australian Harry Kewell.

The People says Benitez is convinced Pedersen is the solution and armed with the cash from new Liverpool owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett is ready to test Rovers' resolve in the summer.

no one trusts the link

Yeah I know no one trusts this source, but how well do people rate Pedersen ?

Havent watched him closely except the highlight goals he scores but Hughes was commenting only last week i how much hard work he does for the side, so i think the criticism that he scores great goals but not much else isnt fair.

Try thinking of left sided players we could sign and not many names spring immediately to mind.

Agree with that and that's why it's critical we give Kewell every last chance to prove his fitness and if he we can get another season out of him do everything we can to keep him fit.

with Leto, Gonzales and even Aurelio or Riise to play LM Kewell can be rested more next season; hopefully this means he'll be fitter longer and firing on all cylinder(s) for the big games

MGP would be a great addition to our team, a goalscoring midfielder, who is great on set pieces as well and works really hard with a engine like Sissoko.

I do think some posters have got the wrong idea about him as this scorer of great goals but not much else, as you say hes great at set pieces and from what i read from hughes last week hes one of their hardest workers which i didnt realise.

Once again we're linked with a player that wouldn't automatically get into the first team for Utd, Chelsea or Arsenal. I thought one of the reasons for Moores selling up was so that we could compete at the top end of the transfer market?

Obviously the above is academic bearing in mind where the link is coming from......

I think he's very good although I've only seen a few full games.

Well he is a better winger than any of our current crop so where are all this negative talk coming from, last season he scored 9 goals in the league and had 6 direct assists, so far this season he has scored 6 goals and had 5 direct assists.

He would be a great addition to our team.

Not really a case of him being better than what we have, more a case of is his best good enough for Liverpool and the consensus is no.

Agree hes better than what we have, im not sure where the criticism of him comes from as i cant imagine many here have seen Blackburn for 90 minutes very often.

Man Utd were linked with him last season so i dont think its fair to say other top teams wouldnt go for him. As i said in my first post, we know left midfield is a position that needs improving but coming up with possible signings isnt easy.
