Carra supported Everton before he came to us.

He continued supporting them for while after he came to Liverpool as well. I remember reading an interview when he was pushed on the matter and he said he only stopped "checking Everton's results before anybody else's" when he was 16 or 17.

I heard a story about Carra that when he was on the subs bench and Everton scored he cheered, but this was when he was young and he remembered where he was!

 That's why he wears long sleeves all the time.

I don't have a problem with Gillette previously bidding for Aston Villa. Only when he teamed up with his friend Hicks did he have the financial muscle to bid much higher up the food chain.

I'm sure he appreciates the opportunity here, and I'm sure he's been well briefed as to our history and standing in the game, but I'm under no illusions that he's a fan of any sort.

Hopefully what's good for us/LFC will also be what's good for him (from an investment point of view) so our interests will dovetail nicely. that's the theory anyway. We all wait to see how it will work out in practice.

David Villa will end up costing him more.

First thing that crossed my mind!

Aston Villa though were not goiing for much at all considering how well run they were, how much land and property they own, how many fans etc. Only thing against them was needing a whole new playing squad and whole new management to get anywhere.

I get worried when we sign new players who state that they were boyhood fans of LFC.

Now we know they were really closet Evertonians.

Gillett speaks about this in the audio interview I put up on here recently. He said once they looked into it and did their research they realised it was only really possible to have great success with a few clubs at the highest echelon of the league and that was when they switched their attentions to Liverpool.
