Apparently a friend of friend etc....works in the canteen etc....and says:

"Lampard is being a right t*** about Barton being in the squad, won?t talk to him, pass to him, all that stuff, and just got up to move to another table at breakfast when Barton sat at the same one. As soon as he stood up and moved, Barton called after him ?Don?t worry, I wasn?t going to nick your breakfast you fat pr!ck? and Lampard threw a hissy fit and stormed out. Micah Richards and Aaron Lennon were in pieces."

Barton just goes up and up in my estimation...

Lampard's the perfect example of a pompous modern player.

Get f*cked you over-hyped girl.

Totally but what I like here is that Barton is speaking to the little voice in Lampard's hindbrain that knows he isn't as good as his press. Couldn't believe it in the Guardian where it said Lampard took him to one side when he arrived. So f***ing funny.

I don't think that's it at all. It's more like Lampard is incredulous that some little cn*t from City even DARE.

Maybe but Lampard protests so much when he gets any sort of criticism. Either way it is f***ing brilliant.

I think he feels like Michael Jordan or Tiger Woods - like he ought not be criticised unless by other giants of the game. He's a good player, Lampard but had a f*cking miserable world cup. I think he's objecting to Barton on the grounds that Barton watched it from Benidorm or wherever and how very dare he?

Second Choice Steve ought to drop Frank for a central pair of Barton and Gerrard of course with Barry on the left and Lennon on the right but still..

Would be awesome that. In fact I'd probably get an England shirt if he did that. Just f***ed him off out of the squad. That'd get the nation behind him.

you don't think he's had a better season since the WC than Gerrard then?

Haven't seen Lampard play once this season. Given his previous poor performances alongside Gerrard for England, in a friendly I'd drop him for Barton to see what happens.

Lampard comes across as a bit of a lady. Having said that, Gerrard isn't exactly Mr Secure.

what was the original comment again?

Said that Gerrard and Lampard had spent too much time thinking about their books at the World Cup "I played sh*t, here's my book", was his comment.

Gerrard's reaction was spot-on, Lampard is being ridiculous, I really hope the above story is true.

The whole thing is hysterical. Barton's original comment was spot on as well.

"I played sh*t. Here's my book." Funniest thing I've heard from a footballer in...well, forever.

he's a contemptible little runt, but he's definitely my favourite player ever now for coming out with that and now his almost public spat with Frankie.

Sign Joey.

Mcateer's 'write it in your book' to Roy Keane was up there.
