The Warrington Guardian has Gary Ablett saying that they'll take a strong team to the Cantilever stadium on Tuesday for the Liverpool Senior Cup quarter final. An outside chance that Momo or Bolo will play. Aurelio and Palleta were also mentioned but I think that's unlikely, at least for Aurelio given our injury situation. Anyway it will be a good chance for many to see the reds in a proper football setting, on the side of a rail embankment by the ship canal :) I've not been to Warrington Town for years but will be looking forward to this one.

Now who to support...

Rich Sutton wants Warrington Wolves fans to attend Town's game against Liverpool

WARRINGTON Town are calling on Warrington Wolves' 'Barmy Army' for support when Liverpool visit Cantilever Park on Tuesday night.

Town are expecting their biggest attendance of the season for their Liverpool Senior Cup quarter-final clash with the Premiership side, who are likely to field a full reserve team.

And the Yellows would like to generate a special atmosphere for the tie to help spur on Ian Street's men.

Rich Sutton, a keen supporter of both Town and rugby league club Warrington Wolves, said: "The Barmy Army generate a great atmosphere with their drums at The Halliwell Jones Stadium and it would be great if they could replicate that at Cantilever Park, especially while there's no rugby at the moment."

Town are offering a special package to businesses wishing to get behind the club and support Town against Liverpool.

A table of 10, with match entry, buffet and programme for each person, costs £150 and

Anyone off here likely to be there?

the best thing is it'll probably be the biggest crowd that Warrington Town has EVER had and the road that the ground is on is closed for repair work all this month so all the spectators'll have a longer than average walk to get to the ground and a long wait to get out of any car park at the end of it.

does this competition really exist?

This competition certainly does exist. It became of major significance when Liverpool were in the Second Division and Everton were in the First. The Senior Cup was thus the only opportunity for an annual Derby Match - both sides put out full-strength teams and the match was played in a packed Anfield or Woodison Park. :)

As another poster has pointed out they used to be the only source of Derby games. My earliest memory of a derby game is St John's debut and hat trick in a 4-3 defeat at Goodison.

I have a feeling that Warnock will not be a Liverpool player by the time this game takes place

It was Idrizaj and Guthrie who scored. A Roque own-goal for them.

Was quite an enjoyable game with the start delayed by 15 minutes because of crowd congestion. :D

Guthrie was by far our best player and, apart from the goal, Idrizaj was dreadful. It was a good finish from Guthrie for the second.
