ynwa.tv Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 Double Agents Down Memory Lane Meet the Referee
Alonso Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 Reina Finnan Carragher Hyypia Warnock Gerrard Alonso Sissoko Riise Kuyt Bellamy Subs: Dudek Agger Aurelio Garcia Crouch I think we'll need pace up front for the counter so Bellamy's in for that. Kuyt should also be raring to go now after shaking of his ankle knock and IMO he provides more options than Crouch and should give their backline more problems. Plus Crouch has had a heavy schedule the last few weeks with England and us and maybe feeling the effects. We're gonna need a strong midfield that also gives protection down the flanks what with Ronaldo and Giggs in good form hence Gerrard on the right and Riise supporting Warnock on the left. The only other question is whether Hyypia will play if Agger is now fit, what with Agger being fresher and more mobile against the pace and strength of Saha and Rooney.

Liverpool have Everton and Manchester United have Manchester City, but those tend to be slightly better-natured rivalries. This one is one of the few games that has real venom, between the fans and in turn, there is probably more bite between the players simply because of the history between the two clubs. The formbook, as they say, goes out of the window. Which is just as well in Liverpool's case. Not only are United flying, their rivals have made a disappointing start to the season. I really do think they have suffered because of the way Rafa Benitez has chopped and changed his line-up but whatever the reason, they are eight points off the pace. Chelsea and United are not likely to lose many games - even if this could be one of them - so already a championship challenge looks impossible. But, they got the Champions League win in midweek, Craig Bellamy has got his first Premiership goal for the club and in the past Benitez has had the knack of digging out a big result when things haven't been going so well. I have no idea who he is going to go for up front because the rule at Liverpool this season seems to be if you score, you drop to the bench! But I hope he goes with two in attack. I just think going to Old Trafford is hard enough and by packing five in the midfield, it sends out the wrong signal to the supporters who have made the trip and - as if they needed it - it is an invite for United to push forward from the back. With Steven Gerrard back I also think they have enough to cope with United in midfield, which is going to be vital with the tackles flying in. However well they have done so far, this United midfield is not on a par with the Keane-Scholes-Beckham-Giggs quartet and I really do think Liverpool have the edge. But one thing about United hasn't changed - their ability to score goals throughout the side. The Champions League in midweek proved that and even if Wayne Rooney is still waiting for that goal, the rest of the side are chipping in. Louis Saha, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ryan Giggs and Ole Solskjaer have all got goals in them and will make sure the Liverpool defence will are tested across the pitch. And Rooney will come good sooner or later. I think we all have to remember that he is still only 20 and what we have seen lately that even if his name is not on the scoresheet he works so hard for the team, that he is always likely to make something happen. LE TISS PREDICTSAWAY WIN- I wouldn't normally back against United, especially at home, but I just have a feeling Liverpool will nick this 1-0. We saw it a few years back with Danny Murphy's goals and given they have been through a bit of a dodgy spell and Rafa has a habit of doing it, I think they will find a performance and a result. But they will have to work hard for it and will have to defend for their lives - and go with two in attack! Is Le Tiss amiss? Liverpool to win 1-0 is 9/1 with Sky Bet.Click here for full odds! MATT'S MAIN MAN STEVEN GERRARD- Surprise, surprise, he will be fit for this one! There is no way he was 'injured' in Bordeaux, because I have never ever known a hamstring clear up in four days, but Liverpool will need him at Old Trafford. I think he is at his best playing on that right-hand side with the freedom to roam, even though he is a terrific central midfielder as well. This is the sort of game he loves and he will drive his side forward - and I just fancy him to boss that midfield as well.Is Le Tiss amiss?Gerrard last goal is 12/1 with Sky Bet Click here for full odds! Earl Hafler Posted October 22, 2006 Posted October 22, 2006 Outside the Shankly Gates ,I heard a Kopite calling,Shankly they have taken you away ,But you left a great eleven,Before you went to heaven ,Now it's glory round the Fields of Anfield Road. All round the Fields of Anfield Road,Where once we watched the King Kenny play,We had Heighway on the wing,We had dreams and songs to sing ,Of the glory round the Fields of Anfield Road. Outside the Paisley Gates,I heard a Kopite calling,Paisley they have taken you away,You led the great 11,Back in Rome in 77,And the redmen they are still playing the same way.
