Huyton_Red Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 I think we play warnock left back and riise left midfield, with crouch and kuyt up front. Gerrard right midfield What would you go for ?

dorgie Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 I hope Luis plays. The man for the big occassion.
Bigal Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 riise left back, garcia left mid. Kuyt and Bellamy upfront
Andy @ Allerton Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Risse Leftback Crouch and Belly to Start Kuyt and Fowler (if fit) on for last 30 mins Gonzales Left Mid
fred milne Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 I hope Luis plays. The man for the big occassion.I wouldn't want to see Garcia playing in midfield at Old Trafford. Maybe as a forward off Crouch or Kuyt but not as someone who is expected to retain possession in midfield and protect Riise defensively, as its a sure thing that Riise will be targeted by Ferguson.
Flasher Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 I'd do this Bellamy..Gerrard...Momo...Riise......Kuyt.....Crouch Torn between Momo and Alonso. Momo just shades it for me right now.

You want his composure at Old Trafford of all places.
M4TTA Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 i'm expecting momo to have carrick in his pocket!
Boca Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 the left side is going to be vital on Sunday. It's got to be solid first and foremost because we have been torn apart down that side the last two premiership games.I think Rafa might play Warnock and Riise to give us some defensive solidity against Ronaldo.
Huyton_Red Posted October 19, 2006 Author Posted October 19, 2006 I think we need someone we can rely on at left midfield, riise for me defiantely. Espeically with the form ronaldo is in at the minute Warnock always does a great job defensively at left back, I would have him left back and riise ahead of him I would either play gerrard right with crouch and kuyt or maybe just crouch if kuyt is still struggling a bit with gerrard in the middle with xabi and momo and garcia or pennant wide right. The weakest part of their team is central midfield we should be able to dominate the midfield on Sunday and get plenty of the ball

Xabi is the "brains" of the team. You want his composure at Old Trafford of all places. I would agree normally. Just not sure Xabi is playing well enough at the moment to be honest. He should be a lot more influential than he is currently. I honestly think he plays too deep at times. On form, I'd still pick Momo, as he can cover the gaps easier than Xabi; the gaps that Gerrard will inevitably leave open.

I thought Momo was out of sorts in the games leading up to his injury.

Sir_Bob_Paisley Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Even if Robbie is so injured he can't play then he must be on the bench, just so he can do a warm up and show the mancs his 5 times fingers salute

He should be a lot more influential than he is currently. I honestly think he plays too deep at times. On form Xabi is still our best central mid atm, he's had games where he showed glimpse of his marshalling of the midfield, while Momo's struggled since he came back from injury and Gerrard's just completely out of form He can play better, it's a matter of consistency for him atm. And I agree, he plays too deep at times, so much more damaging when allowed freedom up the ground
Guest Anders Honoré Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 i'd feel a lot more comfortable with didi in the side against manu. can't see how this team is not gonna be kicked around like we've been virtually everytime we've played them under rafa.

Bigal Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 I know there is giggs, neville, scholes, apart from that, who else has won either the CL or the league there?
