Thought he gave a real captains performance today, again like wednesday gave us a great option from the right with his skill, power and passing.

Well in feller :D

Let's hope we push on now we've got some important matches on the horizon Gala (H) Bolton (a)

Happy Days

His body language was all wrong obviously...

Bolton away is a real tough game. It'll show whether we're truly back on track or not

Apart from the fact Gerrard hates playing there and should demand to play in the middle he was great in the second half. He left the full back for dead for the Gonzalez goal and really stretched the play. He also looked fantastic when he played inside for the last ten minutes when the game was open.

So he should demand then should he?

He should play and is playing wherever rafa tells him to play.

Why have 2 great players on the pitch and one on the bench, when we can play Alonso, Gerrard and Momo in the same team together.

I think we are stronger with Momo and Alonso in the centre and Gerrard on the flanks.

I don't know what these apparent rumours about Gerrard are but the man is only human and if something is bothering him then he should be given some space. the media would never allow this of course and that must be frustrating....

anyway, it's good to see him playing well again. If he doesn't play well in our next game then I hope people will take things into consideration and maybe not jump down his throat.

not that we do ;p

His second half performance was fantastic, he came out with his head up and showed his determination to win that game. He lifted his game and took the others with him, great captain?s performance.

the double dummy-cross on the LB before he wrong-footed him & went through him before putting in the cross for the 1st goal was footballing joy. It was quite simply a fantastic piece of play.

He's 100 times the player Lampard is, while receiving half of the praise

Those comparisons to Lampard are always made; but what can Lampard do better than Gerrard?

I can only think of set pieces and better ball retention/pass selection. Pretty much everything else, Lampard is inferior. I think even with shooting they're pretty much at the same level. What else, injuries?

That pisstake he did to make the 1st goal was exactly the reason why he's been played on the right

He's slowly working into it, think Rafa himself have said a couple of weeks ago that he didn't expect the team to peak until a month or so into the season, the same thing with Gerrard. He's just slowly working to his top form

I agree completely. My comments were, in particular, were sarcastically referring to Andy Gray's comments last week that Gerrard will/should be demanding to play in the centre and, in general, to the media consensus that Gerrard has to play in central midfield for us, as if it is a new thing for him to not play in the centre, and the number of people in the media who apparently 'know' that he dislikes playing there.

I think everybody should stop playing table football - makes people think footballers are fixed in position. Gerrard is being paid the highest compliment a manager can pay any player - he is Rafa's weapon of choice to be deployed where and when needed because the manager knows he is capable of adapting to and fulfilling any tactical ploy the manager has.

I read all the match reports with relish this morning expecting all the journos to say "

"Rafa, implemented a tactical masterstroke playing gerrard wide right and won Liverpool the game against tottenham as he created a goal with a bit of magic out wide"

However I was suprised (;)) that none of them said such a thing

I used to be of the "Gerrard must play in the centre" persuasion. After seeing the Chelsea and Tottenham games I now think differently. As long as he is involved in the play he can dictate the game and it doesn't really matter where he is.

Think we/he needs there to be an out and out winger on the other flank though. That was the problem against both Sheff U and Everton. I'd like to see him in the centre a bit more but he's fine wide right.
