Guest mick the baker Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Taken from todays guardian,Traoré, 26, who is surplus to requirements at Anfield. Bolton are expected to offer £1.5m for the player who cost Liverpool £550,000 from Laval seven years ago. Traoré's departure will be followed by further squad trimming at Liverpool, with Antonio Barragán expected to join Deportivo La Coruña in a £1.7m deal and the likes of Jerzy Dudek, Salif Diao, Anthony Le Tallec and Carl Medjani all effectively available for transfer. Rafa has wasted no time in getting rid of the deadwood.
Maldini Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Where's that from? He's probably worth a lot more than £1.5m, but I'll be happy to get that for him to be honest
magneto Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 I want him off our books because i dont want him as an option on the bench.
_00_deathscar Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Wonder what the odds are on him signing for Man City?
Guest TanMan Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Jerzy Dudek should never EVER be termed 'deadwood'. Plaudits w@nk lyrical about Stevie G winning us No 5 but Jerzy ran him a very close second.
Captain Carrot Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 says £3m in the mirrorAnd we shouldn't pay them a penny more
Guest Jodus Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 He's served us very well for a pric-etag of 550K - you don't get much for that.
Stevie H Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 He's served us very well for a pric-etag of 550K - you don't get much for that.indeed. and we didn't get much for that.
Mike Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 indeed. and we didn't get much for that. hahahathats a spike milligan line right there.
5InIstanbul Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 I actually believe Traore is a far better player than most give him credit for. He was superb up to Christmas in the No. 5 season. Whist I think it's clear his future lies elsewhere, and probably quite rightly, I don't think we should be accepting a paltry sum for him. He's young and a European Cup Winner.....£3mill minimum surely.
Mike Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 traore has never been superb mate.thats a superlative too far.
5InIstanbul Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Some people have very short memories Mike. I stand by it, during that period he was superb. arely put a foot wrong, was Rafa's first choice and looked the part.
Ian Mc Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Quality if Rafa can get the fee up to a potential £3M for Djimbo. No matter how s**** he was and is, that clearance off the line in Istanbul was worth all the horror shows since 99' ;o)
5InIstanbul Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 ive got a very long memory as it happens. Sorry Mike, that wasn't aimed at you. I think in general most are quick to overlook many of the excellent games he had for us, particularly during that period.
Stevie H Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 Some people have very short memories Mike. I stand by it, during that period he was superb. arely put a foot wrong, was Rafa's first choice and looked the part. no, he was just less sh*te and error-prone than usual. someone order the taxi to the reebok now will they?
fred milne Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 If we have to sell to Allardyce then I'd much rather it was Traore than Hamann.
mickdundee Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 however much they offer for Djimi we should ask for £400,000 more. Big Sam wont feel so clever then
JohnnyH Posted July 14, 2006 Posted July 14, 2006 I cannot for the life of me see how anyone can say that Traore had many excellant games, because he didn't. He was and is a liability who cannot pass the ball more the 10 yards. The amount of times he actually passed the ball out of play when trying a simple 15 yard pass up the lineto Kewell or Riise was astonishing. Calling him superb is just plain wrong. He is a stop gap, and a poor one at that. He cleared one of the line in the final, but he was also there for the first half shambles and Rafa was taking him off before it was realised that Finnan was injured, so Rafa was all that impressed either.

If he does go to Bolton, that should tell everyone everything they need to know about 'former England job candidate Sam "I'm a great manager me" Allardyce'. I imagine if he does go to Bolton, Didi will be delighted.
