According to Superdeporte Morientes is one of the players Valencia is trying to land this summer.

Babelfish translation:

Hardly for three days the national championship of League has been finalizing definitively and the soccer market is already in the heat of boiling. The interests and offers follow one another and, according to it advanced yesterday Channel 9, the last one that has arrived at Valencia CF is the one of the forward of the Liverpool, Fernando Morientes. The attacker manchego has not materialized a good season in the English set to the orders of Rafa Benítez and the technician has put it in the market. That circumstance together with to the interest of the Valencia in contracting a forward of guarantees to accompany to Villa the next exercise and the difficulties that have arisen to tie the Kalou young person, has caused that the soccer player cacereño been born in Sonseca has been offered to the organization presided over by Juan To be accustomed to. Until the moment it does not happen to be a simple offer - in fact, also it has been supplied to other clubs like Barcelona, Seville, Villarreal and Betis -, since the will of the club is to try to exhaust all the resources available to close the hiring of the Kalou young person who, next to Castelen, is one of the high-priority objectives. That yes, the young one per it of the Dutch Feyenoord also is object of desire of the multimillionaire Roman Abramovich and that makes difficult its arrival to the VCF. To two bands But the only player is not Fernando Morientes who entered the valencianista present time yesterday. The Italian midfield player Enzo Maresca, one of the great revelations of Seville champion of the UEFA, is one of the players who Amedeo Carboni must in its agenda to reinforce the center of the field the next season. In fact one of his first managements as sport director of the Valencia has been to drill his situation. Carboni days ago it telephoned to Candido Fortunato, an intimate friend of Maresca that although does not have membership card FIFA exerts like its agent and whom it knows because he was the brother of whom he was his companion and comrade in the Juve, Andrea Fortunato, that died of leukemia. It was a for a reason or purpose informative call but with which the newcomer Carboni demonstrated its interest in him. It is more, yesterday, to his exit of the course of sport directors in Madrid, admitted the existence of the contact to SUPER, although it clarified that it is a call like which has been able to make other representatives. Peculiarly, with who also talked yesterday is with the sport director of Seville, Monchi, professor his in máster. Carboni ratified that the option of Maresca is one of which right now handles the Valencia, that is a player whom it likes and that it knows, but also that its draftee, like the one of any sevillista, would be a bone. The Italian is 26 years old, contract until 2009 and one clause of 30 rescission of ` kilos'.

from todays mirror,LIVERPOOL will be forced to take a massive loss if they want to sell Fernando Morientes this summer.

The Spanish striker is a target for Real Betis who have approached the English club with an offer to buy him just 18 months after Liverpool signed him from Real Madrid for £7million.

But Betis will only go to a maximum of £2m for the 30-year-old, and they have also admitted they cannot match Morientes's £2m-a-year wages.

Reds boss Rafa Benitez wants to offload the centre-forward, but he could be forced to give Morientes a pay-off just to leave. If Betis pay him £1m-a-year less, he will expect Liverpool to make up the difference before he joins.

That will see Liverpool take a hit comparable to virtually all of the fee they paid less than two years ago, for a player (' who managed just eight goals in' 27 starts last season. Betis have already made contact with both Liverpool and the player's agent, as they attempt to lure him back to Spain.

Morientes said last week he would have to leave Anfield because of his lack of first-team opportunities. He has also attracted interest from Espanyol and Monaco.

The stumbling block, though, is the wages. It is clear that Liverpool will be forced to pay him up if they want him off the wage bill, as Benitez tries to bring in two new strikers for next season. Benitez is also close to offloading Djibril Cisse, who has cleared the way for a move after admitting for the first time that his days are numbered at the English club. But again, the Merseyside outfit may be forced to take a reduced fee and also pay up some of Cisse's wages, if they want to get him out of the club, instead of opting for a loan deal. Cisse claims he is interested in a move back to, France with Marseille, who he came close to joining in January.

Previously, he had insisted he wants to stay at Anfield, no matter what the pressure for him to leave.

Newcastle are also monitoring the situation and may be prepared to make a bid, but Marseille would offer only about £5m for the striker who cost Liverpool £14m two years ago.

Yesterday it emerged Benitez has approached Sevilla with an offer of around £7m for their Brazilian right back Daniel Alves. "Liverpool are a big club but at this time I am at Sevilla and I only want to go on holiday to Brazil," said Alves.

I can see a similar situation with Morientes as that with Baros. Lots of clubs after him but very few willing to match both the fee we want and his wages

Morientes' demands to sink BetisMay 23 2006

By Ian Doyle, Daily Post

REAL BETIS'S hopes of signing Fernando Morientes could be scuppered by the Liverpool striker's financial demands.

The Spaniard has resigned himself to an Anfield departure after struggling to impose himself in the Premiership since arriving from Real Madrid for £6.3million in January 2005.

Espanyol and Fenerbahce are also both tracking the 30-year-old, but it appears Betis have jumped to the head of the queue.

Liverpool have accepted they must take a loss on the player, with the Spaniards believed to be offering in the region of £2.5m.

That would give Rafael Benitez additional funds in the transfer market and Betis financial leeway as they strive to meet the striker's personal terms.

Reports in Spain had suggested Betis were ready to offer centre-back Juan Melli as part of a swap deal, but Liverpool are already well covered in that position.

Benitez is determined to reshape his strikeforce after admitting Liverpool must score more goals next season if they are to win the Premiership.

"The improvement in the Premiership was the most important thing for me this season," said the Liverpool manager. "To reduce the gap in the league and to get into the top three was a very good thing for us.

"We needed to score more goals and if we want to progress then we need to score more."

Benitez, who is also willing to listen to offers for Djibril Cisse, continues to monitor Darren Bent, Jermain Defoe and Craig Bellamy but is keeping an open mind on other alternatives.

FERNANDO MORIENTES, IN THE ORBIT OF THE VALENCIA The LIverpool would be arranged to negotiate the exit of the forward, to whom it has left three years of contract, so that some player of the Valencia entered the operation that is to the the liking of the technician of the Reds, Rafa Benítez. Fernando Morientes is united to the list that handles the Valencia like possible reinforcement for the next season. The forward cacereño responds to the player profile who looks for the set of Mestalla to accompany to Villa in the attack end, since it is a guarantee facing the goal and is a player with experience in the high European competition. In any case, its hiring does not feel like simple. Morientes receives high emolumentos in the Liverpool, reason why it would have to reduce his card. In addition, with the English set it still has left three years more of contract. According to Channel 9 has informed, the Liverpool could facilitate the exit of the ex- madridista, but it would take advantage of so that the operation some player of the Valencia of the affability of the technician of the Reds entered, Rafa Benítez, entered the operation. In that list they could be Albelda, Pablo Aimar, Mista or Baraja. In the case of Albelda, its exit of the Valencia in an operation of that style is unthinkable, although the club of Mestalla would be arranged to negotiate with some of the three rest if it is for being able to prop up the advantage of the equipment of Quique Sanchez Flores (without going more far, the own Valencia had proposed to the Villarreal an exchange between Aimar and Forlán). In any case, one treats, at the moment, of a name more of between many that have left in these last days, although the certain thing is that Morientes already has sounded with force more of once. Specially, for two seasons, before it ended up fichando finally by the Liverpool.

Morientes is united to the list of forwards that wants the Valencia

The Valencia looks for forward and Fernando Morientes has been the last name in being united to the list of possible draftees. The player of the Liverpool pleases much to Quique as much Sanchez Flores, like a Amedeo Carboni and Eduardo Maciá. In addition, the lack of continuity that it is having with Rafa Benítez could favor the exit of the player to Valencia. However, one is a difficult operation by several reasons. Most important, the high card of the player. The 3 million net euros that are receiving in the Liverpool surpass by far the wage top of the valencianista group, that is in 1.5 million. In addition, the Valencia would have to negotiate with the English set, that paid 9 million to Madrid to take control of its services. The club would try to include players to lower the price of the cost of the operation. The 30 years of Morientes are in addition an added problem. Other options that the organization for the attack handles are those of Diego Tristán, a player who fulfills the profile that looks for the Valencia: cheap and with one it files reasonable, and Salomon Kalou.

If he's determined to stay - as I've read because he doesn't want to keep moving his family :o

I can't see Rafa selling Crouch.

Fowler is not there for selling.

Unless we keep all 4...
