The Hitman Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 (edited) Feck,he's a top player. How much? Still,Momo and Stevie will just batter him about. They need some muscle in that midfield, isn't he a bit similar to Fabregas? Edited May 22, 2006 by Pretty Boy
Kahnee Posted May 22, 2006 Author Posted May 22, 2006 Signed already according to PA. Pah, what do they know
Benitez Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 Feck,he's a top player. How much? Still,Momo and Stevie will just batter him about. They need some muscle in that midfield, isn't he a bit similar to Fabregas? I thought he'd be more similar to Hleb? But isn't he that sort of player, ie a attacking centre mid? I haven't seen him play for about 2 years so I know even less than I normally do

Anybody enlighten us any further?
Benzo-13 Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 Good player. Too injury prone though. Dortmund always missed him when he was out. He'll be kicked to bits unless they're gonna play him futher forward in the Bergkamp role as it's now vacated. I'm not worried by that signing one jolt.
Kahnee Posted May 22, 2006 Author Posted May 22, 2006 Must admit thought he was an attacking midfielder. Sort of a Ljunberg - can play wide or central or off Henry
Benzo-13 Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 Must admit thought he was an attacking midfielder. Sort of a Ljunberg - can play wide or central or off Henry Can play anywhere in the midfield but off the front two/one is his best position. Finding space between forward and back. Holding up play and bringing players into it from their deep runs is his best attribute. A typical No.10. I can Arsenal maybe letting Reyes go to Real after this move.
McBain Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 Very good player. Lightweight but good. The typical Wenger player really

Ta for that If Reyes goes, they're gong to have find another replacement, though, surely. Bergkamp and Pires have already cleared out their lockers

Bergkamp and Pires have already cleared out their lockers No bother. Think Torres is on their shopping list too though. They've also got Hleb, Van Persie, Ljungberg (superb in the CL final), the golden boy Walcott and even Henry to play that wide - infield runner role Wenger likes.
Maldini Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 Very good signing for them, can't see em spending much more though.
Benzo-13 Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 Very good signing for them, can't see em spending much more though. Still think they need more midfield muscle to be competitive next year. That Diaby lad is out til October.
windy city red Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 i am very surprised, how many more No. 10s do they need? Abit of a knee jerk here, but I was hoping he would wear a liverpool shirt after his Euro 2004 performance I wonder how close he was to signing with us when houllier was around...
Ombudsam Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 Wenger loves that sort of player. When I saw Rosicky in the euros he did well anchoring the czech midfield when bruckner would sub his goalie for a striker after five minutes if the czechs weren't winning 78236356034-0. Worked mind
galés rojo Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 Good player but I think Wenger should concentrate on trying to get a bit of power and physical presence into that midfield.
Guest Anders Honoré Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 Would have been a good signing for us to play 'in the hole'.
Maldini Posted May 22, 2006 Posted May 22, 2006 I don't think he's really a classic #10, he's a bit like Gerrard in that he's better when carrying the ball from deep.
madaboutlfc Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 what a great signing but hes another playmaker like Hleb albeit with an exceptional work rate.. when will we start signings..
Guest Red Mist Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 We could have done with him. I think we need a true playmaker in the midfield, Rosicky is very decent.
fyds Posted May 23, 2006 Posted May 23, 2006 Saw him in the flesh last summer against Vitesse Arnhem - imagine Garcia, but injured every ten minutes and you're getting there.
