Dave, I don't think anyone on here in their wildest dreams would ever believe you would sing "let the b*****d die" to Xabi.

a) aye, but it's sky friendly Harry Houdini's gaff - the master magician who can survive relegation and make money disappear in a puff of smoke.

b) :D it's the new sack Parry

But Pompey fans are earths' salt and create a great atmosphere. Terry Henry loves them.

Are you sure they were not shouting, "Oh let the b*****d cry"

we sang "Die you b*****d die..oh die you b*****d die" get it right

I think the tone of my mail has been mistook...I am not really condeming the Pompey fans....just pointing out that there is a media bias and if we sang it at Anfield i am damn sure it would have been brought up in the current climate

Matt Taylor was booked for dissent aswell after moaning about Xabi taking too long to get up.

We should actually thank Graham Poll for blowing his whistle as it was obvious that the Portsmouth players were not going to kick the ball out so that Xabi could receive treatment.

The booing was for the game being stopped for Xabi's injury when they were breaking away upfield, if you were a proper fan and were watching it on the telly instead of pissing about at the match you'd have known that....

No the booing was when he was being taken off the field, which was a few minutes after the incident, but you'd have been listening to the commentator... ;)

I remember the uproar in the press and on the back pages when the Riise song was sung to Smith when he was on the floor, despite not knowing the seriousness of the injury at the time and him getting a standing ovation as he left the pitch.

When Blackburn sang "hows your leg" at Cisse, no-one was arsed.

nah, it was just a particularly long boo :D

i think they thought he was faking it - just as there was no-one near him when he fell, needs to be looked at this 'rule' - i thought the ref (Bennett ?) was right to play on in the Arsenal v Spurs game the other week, similar situation here really, wasn't a head injury or anything...

Context. He was right to stop it. Nothing game when we have a Cup Final next week.

well it wasn't a nothing match for starters but i'm not sure i follow that anyway, if the ref sees it as a serious injury he stops the game if not he lets it go, dunno if a player turning his ankle should be classified as that though...

At the time he probably wasn't to know it was just a strain, he motioned for the stretcher to come on.

Initially it looked like a serious injury - Poll was obviously right to stop the game.

In the Gunners v Spurs match the ref checked with both players - they indicated they were ok. In fact one of them was already getting to his feet.

So they were not similiar situations at all.

what is it with a certain number of fans from every god damn club that are sure that the entire media are out to get their club. It's stupid ignorance. f***ing stop

If you think we as a club and moreso Liverpool as a city don't get a hard time from the press then you're either very naive or very stupid.
