Sorry, thought it was pretty clear myself. If SOS released a statement which said something along the lines of "As the voice of all Liverpool fans worldwide we (insert your opinion here)", they'd be crucified. "I'm not a member of SOS, how dare they assume that they speak for me" etc etc etc. Stating that they can only speak for the people who have actively joined and associated themselves with SOS is, I think, blindingly obvious.

I think it's pretty clear what SOS are claiming. Whilst the union is there for all Liverpool fans to join, whether they are local or not, they cannot claim to speak for supporters who aren't members. So claiming to represent "all Liverpool fans" would be a fallacy. It's semantics, to prevent people from having a go at them for claiming that they are representing all Liverpool fans. Don't think it's at all fair having a go at them for that.
