Feel the same about Mason, I remember a game against Fulham away a couple of years ago where he really had it in for us, I agree about Dowd, felt he was too full of himself until the last couple of years, he's one of the only refs to give Suarez a fair crack of the whip and not basing decisions on his prior opinion of him

I can't see if they clear him of being racist that they can charge him with abusive language, if we believe what Henry Winter was right when he said "porque negro", if it's not racist it's not abusive.

A rare pro Liverpool article from Lawro, pretty much agree with what he's saying here http://www.mirrorfootball.co.uk/opinion/columnists/mark-lawrenson/Mark-Lawrenson-column-Why-I-think-there-is-an-agenda-against-Liverpool-striker-Luis-Suarez-article841210.html

I wonder if all those rumours about Keita have any truth in them and would this prompt us into bidding for him in January
-
I agree I'd love to see Wisdom heading out on loan. He seems to have the required strength, pace and technical ability to make the grade but we'll only know more by seeing him playing competitive football. My only reservation is he's just over 6 feet which isn't tall for a centre half these days.
-
But a back four of Johnson/Kelly, Coates Agger Enriques has plenty of pace
-
Seem to remember something in the papers about having a groin operation and that he'd be out until the end of the season. I have a feeling he'll be signed in the summer as reports were promising at the time.
-
Lukaku would fit the bill, we don't have to time to sort anything like this out, looks like Torres has really screwed us over.

January will tell us a lot. If RH is still there and no significant signings when the window closes the honeymoon period for the new owners will be well and truly over.
-
He's predominantly a right back, haven't seen him play but seems strange given that we've GJ and Martin Kelly already.
-
Can't remember where I read it but the complete article is a bit more positive, saying there's no truth in the rumours he's leaving, that he has a four year contract and that Roy Hodgson would have to tell him he wants him to leave to his face and that he would have the guts to say it to his face if he was and that he hasn't so it's a nothing story.

Regarding Affelay, I'm guessing he has more caps for Holland at 24 than Kuyt had and Kuyt has been a fantastic player for us over the years. Also the fact that the only reason we would be able to buy a player of his quality in January is due to his contract running out in the summer. There's no doubt we need to strengthen the squad in January and Affelay is probably as good as is available in January.

Not that I think Reina is a runner but it's infuriating knowing that the only thing that'll get Roy riled is speculation about his own job.
-
It's not true that there's no value in January transfer window, if you have money there are bargains to be had, I wouldn't be surprised to see Benzema or Gomez move for a reasonale fee. Clubs that are central to a teams plans are off limit but there are plenty of players at different clubs that are outside the first team picture but a change of scenery could revive.

Is it too much to ask that these journalist should believe the stories themselves before they write them, we're absolutely skint but we're going to pay £4m for Owen?

I think Kenny would be sizable inprovement on Hodgson. I wasn't in favour of his appointment as I felt he'd spent all his career managing a certain way for second level teams and I couldn't see how his game was going to transfer to a club like Liverpool. But I thought he'd make a better go of it than he has. I felt Rafa's time here had come to an end mainly because we didn't have the funds to continually change the squad as his managerial approach needs. I had hoped that a different approach might get something more out of the players but we've gone massively backwards under roy. I don't want a change of management to distract people from the ownership issue but if Roy stays in charge we'll end up midtable.

The Blackstone Group / GSO Capital Partners E-mail addresses

Is Blackstone/GSO the same company? Were they the only ones mentioned in the articles about Hicks plans? -

Wouldn't get too excited about anything richard buxton has to say, it also seems to contradict what all the broadsheets seem to be saying. -
Any link to the Mail story, it'd be fantastic if it was true but after the near miss with Luke Young my expectations for the quality of players will be going after this year is pretty low.
-
But Danny Wilson doesn't have to be included in the list because he's under 21. Likewise for Kelly & Pacheco but they'll be needed to make up the 8 home grown I'd imagine.
-
We also heard it was a done deal to city from Alan Brazil, maybe they're acting in good faith and have heard it from two different sources but a large part of me thinks they just make this stuff up.
-
Too good to be true for me too. That'd mean we could replace Masch with top quality like Defour or Banega and get one of the best strikers in the world ( I believe he still is ) in addition, I'm not even going there as I know I'll only be dissapointed.

I think we badly need a change of direction in the summer because things have just spiralled out of control this year. Rafa is and will be a among the top bracket of coaches in the world but it's not working out for us and time to move on. The first job a new manager will face in the summer is trying to hang on to the likes of Torres and Mascherano if as is likely there's no CL football to look forward to next year. Suggesting Moyes would be up to the job is laughable. imagine what'd happen when we going into these long losing sequences he seems to have every 4 years out of 5. The tactical acumen of Mike Basset as evidence by his european record and he's a blue nosed w***** to boot. Also I don't see how he could deal with big name players or that he would command any respect from any of our players.
-
Stuff like saying we're worse off that when he came is obviously just complete crap but things have gone stale. apart from Ferguson when is the last time someone has won the league after being here for 5 years. There's the nucleus of a good team there but we just need to clear the deadwood out like Kuyt and Insua and I can't see Rafa doing that. Hopefully the lack of cl football will hasten the departure of the cancers while at the same time Torres hangs around if new owners do come in.

The echo said he left the ground on crutches, any update on what the injury is or how long he might potentialy be out for?
