Great bit of man management by Rafa with Robbie!
uncle bob replied to alias75's topic in Liverpool FC
Who says he run himself into the ground? Also maybe after scoring a GREAT goal a pat on the back i.e. keeping him on till the end may have done wonders for his confidence. The apparent dismissive attitude to Keane makes be believe that he may be leaving in january. -

so by that logic if Keane plays well and works hard he will always be substituted with 20 minutes to go -
Totally agree and it was made more difficult for him by the lack of support from Reira or Babel

Yeah great man management Keane scores a great goal and works his socks off yet is still subsituted against by then a 10 man aresenal. 11 v 11 a draw is a good result but with Arsenal down to 10 men and we playing much the better football mostly due to Alonso we take a goal scoring striker off and still play with 2 holding midfielders. Gerard and Alonso could of easily bossed the midfield after Fabragas was injured but no caution prevailed and we get yet another draw when three points were there for the taking. When will our manager accept that his overly cautious approach is going to cost us the title this season. Again more important not to lose than to win. -
Watch part of Real - Barca match in town saturday - both looked very good not much in it until introduction of Messi. Real defenders were very quick and strong. Relieved we have second leg at home

Why do you always believe Charters or unions will solve all our problems. No one goes to the match to boo (unless organised by some before the game) its spontaneous, a simple reaction to frustration it not right but its life and no charter will change human nature. I don't like some of the foul mouth tirades I hear at matches even to the opposition but I don't advocate or expect a charter will stop them, again for most its not planned but a spontaneous response to a situation that occurs and not planned. Regarding your points relating to SoS. The board would argue they always listen to the fans as they are a commercial organisation and we are its customers. That dosen't mean they will always agree with the grievance but they would argue they listen. Just like every prayer is answered sometimes that answer is no. Regarding changes to ticket distribution its a nice idea to have more tickets sold by window sales as in the past we use to queue and pay at the turnstile however times have changed. Our fan base is much wider spread than in the old days, most people won't travel unless they have a ticket and orderly queuing on match day for thousands of tickets is no longer practical and I doubt the police would allow it. Also the club would be concerned that too many tickets would be left over. Regarding Sales through supermarkets, they would charge to do this and again reduce profitability and again may affect attendance. For good or ill the club and all other clubs will push for corporate and season tickets irrespective of any number of fans representatives on the board

If we were to make one signing in January who would you go for?

Why not leave Stevie were he is and buy a class winger or full back. Owen the option if funds low -
If you like chesnuts so much I guess there is nothing better than an old one. If its makes it easier for you call me 10p thats 2 bob when I was a lad

Then why are you raising the point. Also I thought personnel abuse was against the rules - However I don't so continue to be abusive as you like with my full blessing
-
Your point Had stated previously don't have a fixed view on the matter so maybe a bit of both required. If it is the undisputed fact that zonal marking is the correct way to defend corners - why isn't it adopted by all managers
-
If they have players who are good at making late runs I would prefer to man mark and disrupt their runs similarly if the have someone very good in the air would prefer to see them crowded out rather than allowing them to compete against the one player covering a particular zone
-
Yes if after the match so as not to confuse the players Also why are you always looking for people to be banned if they disagree with you
-
Why are you always looking for conspiracy or sub text besides I thought you believed I worked for Gillett or Hicks cannot remember which one
-
Do'nt have a firm view, Gordon Strachan I know prefers it but for me it doesn't have to be one or the other, depends on opposition and their style of play at corners. I do believe we should always keep at least one player up field to give an effective out
-
sorry that was just a joke

Tactical astute in cup games and particularly in Europe. He is honest hard-working and sincere, also very driven.

I apologise if you believe its purely WU but I have a question. Do you believe it is possible to be a devote Liverpool supporter and have grave doubts about our managers ability, Transfer judgement, man management skills and what appears to be an overly controlling presence on match days that in my humble opinion stifles players creativity and natural skill. Rafa in my opinion is a good manager but not a great one, and I don't advocate he is sacked as som ewould believe. I do believe he is too cautious by nature which will IMHO prevent us from winning the league (but not cups) and I only suggest that the board delay giving him a new contract until the end of the season. We may yet win the league and if we do I will gladly choke on the humble pie. I understand many may disagree with my point of view but it is honestly felt and not simply a wind up and I was under the impression this environment was the place to air such views
-
Yes because even if United couldn't sign him they would hold his registration until summer - No way they would want to increase our chances of winning league before they catch us up

What has happened to freedom of speech - isnt booing just an expression of that right. I agree never boo a team or players before or during a game but after if they have been p1ss poor or not give it their all why not let them know - it doesnt make you a bad person and as said previously its the Rafa style of management. He shoes his displeasure by benching them which is a similar expression of dissatisfaction

Martin O'Neil -
Its the 'old farts' who give the club continuity and thus tradition -
-
No he doesnt that part of his problem, great pace and shot but no real desire to go into harms way for the team and win 50-50s around the box or take lumps for his team mates.
-
We still havent won the League. Easy way for players to stop fans booing - the team should play better against teams like Stoke Fulham West Ham and Hull at home
-
I would say forwards need to be braver than most players on the pitch with the exception of the goalkeeper
