According to Ged and Thomo it was because of his brothers

This is very true all the recent managers had quality local lads coming through the system McMamanan. Fowler Owen but with Carragher 31 and Gerard 28 where is the next local top class player. I remember Shanks dream was 11 local lads in team, yes I know it was noy achieved but what a great dream, but soon there won't be any

Even with full control of transfers and a blank chequebook....

Problem with that argument is Rafa got Keane whilst still hoping to get Barry. Barry compared to Alonso of last season would of been an improvement but with the rejuvenated form of Xabi not sure would of made such a big difference this year. -
If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and sounds like a duck some fans will still argue its a swan because Rafa bought it. Babel has been an abject failure (like so many others) and should be shipped out this summer

Another great excuse for poor buys. Yes /maybe Barry was his top target but Keane must of also been high on his wish list together with Dosenna. Maybe if he had gotten Barry he MIGHT not of wanted Riera but what is not in doubt is he wanted to sell Alonso if the price was right and based upon the vast improvement in Alonso's form how much extra would Barry of brought to the party this season. Every problem or mistake is down to the owners or Parry. Stop absolving the manager from any of our problems he has had over 4 years and all the players we complain about were his with the exception of Hypia Gerrard and Carragher who generally have been his best performers with the exception of Torres. -

Xabi has scored 3 league goals in 19 starts Barry has scored 4 league goals in 27 starts Why would signing Barry have made such a big difference to this season The manager wanted Barry, Keane, Dosenna, Degan and Reira. He got all except Barry, but instead got a rejuvenated Alonso. poor summer buys cost us this season - simple as, coupled with overly cautious tactics and baffling substitutions -
I know but I felt it worth repeating

Strange! its fecking weird

Talk about the worlds biggest jig saw puzzle. If you had compared Alonso's form last season with what Barry could bring to the team I may agree partly with you but Alonso has been very good this year and its doubtful if Barry would of made that much of a difference this year. It was other areas that needed improving and the manager failed again to address those problems. Its easier to stop teams scoring than winning which Rafa has failed to address, hence the large number of draws. Take the blinkers off and what about the consist timing of subsitutions.
-
So Barry now the missing piece of the jigsaw - ignoring the vast improvment in Alonso's form. But its a good excuse , so we didnt win the league this year because of Parry and absolutely nothing to do with our manager. Glad I got that cleared up, else I might of been blaming the manager for a string of bad buys and overly cautious tactics with substitutions by the clock regardless to what is happening on the pitch

I agree but with state of ownership, unless that resolved I don't believe he will fancy all the off field bullsh*t

Again weak you assume all tabloids against Rafa but you assume they don't really believe he is a poor manager. Why do you believe every journalist is against us, is it because you expect them to only write glowing reports on our performances. If you are not biased towards us then by your logic they must be biased against us. Two papers have reported that Kuyt was requested to hold on his contract talks until the managers contract was sorted. If that is untrue then I assume Rafa will be sueing as it is a serious accusation. An yes I do say 'if the paper reports are true' what a stupid point to query. I make my judgements on Rafa based on team performance full stop and that includes the qualities of his purchases and the money he has spent not what Andy Gray or Mark Lawreson report, but some pundits I do respect and it is arrogent nonsense to dismiss every critism of Rafa as media bias. Yesterdays performance was inept like so many others this season and for that matter last season and just shouting Rafa is the only man for the job and insulting those who disagree is not a valid arguement. Rafa has bought those players and coached/prepared them so if they fail he fails and our current form is mid table at best.
-
That is so weak. The more likely interprutation is " if you don't agree with my demands and I leave a lot of the players will not re-sign" As I said earlier if the paper reports are true then it also concerns me that Aggers contract could also being put on hold at the managers request
-
So now we acted illegally in not selecting Keane against Spurs - Rubbish and deep down you know it. Regarding all the silly talk about biased football pundits is sad pathetic paranoia and is used too often to deflect critism of too many boring and poor performances. We all know Gray is a bluenose and Lawrenson is a sarky beggar but the are not wrong all the time and who cares anyway . You can count on the fingers of one hand the really outstanding performances this season and by the end of the season we will have moved on no further than last season except now we will have Rafa for another five years. We are still basicly a two man team as we were with GH and have spent a fortune in the process. I was critised for saying early in the season Riera was an average player - Guess what I was wrong he is less than average. Babel I hoped would improve but he has been awful this season. Also reading today Kuyt has been quoted as saying Rafa asked him to hold of his contract discussions until Rafa's was sorted. If this is true and I repeat IF TRUE then for me he should be sacked immediately because its obvious he puts his own position ahead of the club.
-
Thought he was wrong but got away with it because he has bought a lot of quality and makes average players play well. I wish we had Rooney

The pro Rafa supporters argued at the start of the season they believed we should have a realistic challenge for the championship and still be in it in April. To be within approx 6 points from the top and some silverware. Reasonable requirement when you consider the money spent on new players in the summer. Now out of the league, in reality in Jan but for arguements sake say February not April. Knocked out of the FA cup by Everton so once again the Rafa Legend is centred around the Champions League again. Now watch all the 'Rafa is King' fans change their standards to avoid questioning some very poor management and buying decisions. I understand the season is not yet over but for us again the Championship is, but of course its all the fault of Parry and the owners and our manager blameless. I agree we need new owners but also we need a new manager. I admit not a big fan of Benny but he scored on wednesday so Rafa drops him. Same with Keane after he scored. His man management skills are a joke. We know how to defend and press i.e. 'Park the Bus' but not a clue how to get it to its proper destination.

100% correct

and our championship challenge died in february some f*cking record again
