Look at the team we put out and ask youself is it the quality of those players, are they incapable of beating a team that hasn't won a league game in 15 attempts and if so the players are not good enough or could a better manager get a better performance from them. For me its generally about players and our players with a few notable excepts are not good enough and who bought them

Behave we have spent a fortune on 48 players and we still cannot maintain an attacking game. All pressure. defending and expect a special moment or a set piece. That is why still good in europe but will never win the league with Rafa. Keane may not have worked out as we hoped but to ship him out without a replacement eas madness and I can only conclude he was used as a pawn in the Rafa Parry feud and to hell with LFC. 4th place will be a battle now and on current form we will likely finish fifth

uncle tom is also very disappointed

All a little academic now. I was told earlier the announcements was to be made at 2:00pm as well past that time not sure info I received was correct

Would of been more gutted to lose a manager in the middle of the season whilst still in with a shout for a major trophy. However remember contract still not signed
-
I am sure it would but it all depends who has the final say. However would it be so bad that before a player is bought the merits of such a player and the managers intentions are discussed with a Director who has done it all, before a final decision is made.
-
I am not sure he would. It would make him look very petty to be so dismissive of a Liverpool legend and very decent man. He would at the very least have to give it a chance to work. I just now wonder how big a result that was for Rafa on wednesday. I now hoping Gillett out the door soon, believe he the most devious of the two owners but was punching out of his weight with Hicks

From good source Dalglish to be named Director of Football later today

For what its worth (i.e. don't shoot the messenger) family and friends over in Madrid for the match were just speaking to some journalists (english and spanish) they are reporting Rafa will quit after the match tonight but he has not been sacked. Also they spoke to Gerard - he won't be starting but may come on late. He has not trained enough for a full game Make of it what you will

Disgusted to see so many 'Rafa-out' heads around

but Wenger likes them to run -
Excellent post and to which you could add Babel, Lucas and Benyoun Knox is correct its about the need for more quality players and even taking into account our sh*t board and CEO large sums of money have been allocated and used badly.

so more astute than most then

I wasn't advocating we buy Rebiery, he was used as as example by Woodslya regarding a top class wide player.
-
But because of his choices in summer we are still short at left back, short a striker and technically short at right back. Those failings can not just be ignored because the problem relating to lack of width has been with us for years. It was and I agree with hindsight a very poor selection of players taking into account our limited funds and team requirements.

sanity thank God, too many fans have lowered their expectations to similar levels of say Everton and Spurs fans. Its not the competing that counts but the winning.
-
Who is to say he wouldn't fall in love with the wit, charm and warmth of our supporters and decide to raise his grandchildren here
-
We did have the money to buy say Ribery this summer instead Rafa bought Keane Dossena, Riera and Degan (assume signing on fee even if on a free) - Choices were made that have proven to be poor choices. Yes we do score some great goals but often our build up is slow predictable and methodical with a reluctance by many players to join in the attack quickly enough. Regarding you comparision with Chelsea, if we lack the flair they adopted whilst using two holding players then until we increase the number of flair players we should adopt a different style than chelsea.

You are the type of fan that knows everything but understands nothing

Fair point, but can it not be reasonably argued that we have still not addressed the problem of the lack of quality wide players after five years, we are unable to break down teams who wish to play counter attacking football. Also why two defensive minded central midfield players irrespective of who we are playing at home. Why are substitutions made at the same time at each match irrespective of what is happening on the pitch. Also because of out tactics you could go for a drink in between the time we take to carry the ball from our penalty area to the oppositions and still only end up with only one of our players in penalty area.
-
Try recalling some of the other threads where many of our fans have commented that our failings at home this season has cost us dear. Far too many draws but you keep up the single sentence comments and insults and ignore what is obvious to most fans regardless of whether you are or are not a supporter of our manager. Our home form taking into account the large number of draws and the teams with whom we have draw is not by any stretch of the imagination acceptable. I am puzzled by how many games you go to, as so often after the games this season there has been great deal disappointment and frustration from most supporters which negates your assertion that our home form acceptable if not good. Maybe its about standards and I expect more than you.

Touche' However Tom 8's poor grammar is no excuse to ignore the failings of our current manager. Also for those who believe our home record this season is good, then all I can say is standards of expectation in our current fans falls far below the expectations of us 'old farts'

don't worry his shift starts at 11 provided uncle Tom has got other plans for him

Totally agree and look what the money from last summer could of been used for to take us forward. I agree this is as a fan with hindsight but I expect higher levels of player appreciation from our manager and yet we are still awaiting quality width up front and a quality second striker. -
So now the new wisdom our poor home form is down to Sky FFS
